Thank you, thank you all, for your too-kind words. I appreciate them more than I can say.
The way the board has grown, 1K may not really seem like so much, these days; but since it took me nearly 4 years to do it (!) I'll gratefully accept the tattered shmatte that 's all that remains of the smoking jacket, and wear it with pride. (Special thanks to emm for the immensely flattering Parker reference, and to Cynth for the adorable pic. )
I'll leave it at that, lest I risk going all mawkish and teary-eyed -- a thing of which Mrs Parker would not approve (nor, it goes without saying, would Bloomfield).

Congratulations, Scottielvr,
I would like to post something so intelligent and sensitive that all of the other people who have commented would recognize the superiority of my comments. Unfortunately, stuck with mediocre abilites, I have difficulty coming up with something quite that exceptional. Instead, I will have to be content to thank you for all of your well-thought-out and well-written posts (neat poems too) during the past few years. Let me reiterate that we (or is it us?) Chiffers appreciate your efforts. Please, don't stop now. We are looking for more stimulating posts from you. We are so selfish, I know.
