Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

dubh, try my Quit Smoking Painlessly page.

The whole approach to resolutions is wrong. What we should do is to look for good things that we've already done, then resolve to have done them. Success is guaranteed.

Here are my already-accomplished resolutions for 2005:

1. Take up the banjo again.
2. Learn some jigs.
3. Lose 10 pounds.

Wow! Most excellent method! I'm going to apply it to losing weight, getting up earlier, practicing more, and staying away from C&F!

For those of you who want additional visuals on the smoking scene, erectile dysfunction and amputated legs (both due to small blood vessel disease), as well as the need to wear oxygen tubes stuck up your nose and trailing an oxygen canister are also fairly inevitable. Early onset of sagging skin and wrinkles, too.

My resolution is: Resolution.

Guided by my cherished Webster’s Second:

"n. . . . A resolute quality of mind. . . . In music, the passing of a dissonant tone or chord to a consonant tone or chord. . . . Synonyms: Courage, decision, determination, firmness, fortitude, analysis, resolvedness, resoluteness, constancy, perseverance, steadfastness, boldness, purpose, resolve."

My new year's resolution

Dont make any resolutions until December 2006, then you only have to keep them for one month.

Tell us something.: I've picked up the tinwhistle again after several years, and have recently purchased a Chieftain v5 from Kerry Whistles that I cannot wait to get (why can't we beam stuff yet, come on Captain Kirk, get me my Low D!)

I gotta go with Doug; making goals, not resolutions...

1- Finish the rough draft of my novel I've been trying to write for almost a year :P
2- Finish my solo album project (not ITM, sorry guys).
3-....um....I'm still working on #3....how about "Not die." :P

Congratulations wrote:My New Year's Resolutions:

2. Actually finish Ulysses (I've tried twice, now, and something always gets in the way).

I'm sure there should be more.

That "something" is, in fact, the book Ulysses itself.

I've got a challenge for all of you.

Learn 100 tunes.

That was my New Year's resolution for about four years running. I look back on those years as the time when I REALLY learned to play Irish music. I've gotten more slack and comfortable recently, but in the interest of re-jump-starting my playing, I'm going to give it another go ths year. It's not hard, just two tunes a week with two weeks of wiggle room. Once you get going, you can easily overshoot the mark.

Who's with me?

I'll have to give Darwin's method a try. I'm getting desperate. Twice in less than six months I've had serious respiratory problems. What's more I should know better. I've worked in patient care enough to see the results of smoking. I've seen people who go around carrying cups like little spittoons hacking up vile sludge while puffing away. People who can't walk two feet without suffocating. And I'm becoming LIKE THAT!!!!

It's effecting my flute and harmonica playing, my social life, my...private married life....everything!!!!

This morning, after spending half the night hacking due to the current onset of respiratory caterwauling I did not smoke. I'm back to work now and just want to try to see if 24 hours of no smoking will make a difference. Just 24 hours. Just to see.
