Albert Hoffmann died
Something of interest for all the former Hippies in here (don't know about the rest of the world, but here in Switzerland most folkies over 40 are former hippies - or still are).
Yesterday morning (that's tuesday) Albert Hoffmann, inventor of LSD and citicen of my hometown, died at his home at age 102. He discovered the drug by coincidence while looking for a drug that should stimulate the circulation, while working for a pharmaceutical company in Basel. The discovery of the real effect got it's place in history as "the bicycle trip", since Hoffmann took the drug before riding his bicycle home from work and then was quite surprised at the course of events on his way home...

Why do people use aluminum to put beer in it, if you can make whistles out of it?

Pure Sandoz (sp?)
Pure acid is something that I am very thankfull for..
It opened many doors, and perceptions, for me back in the day.
It got some bad press ,but when it was pure, it was something that went beyond words and experience and opened up parts that I never knew existed.
Some accident

And many a poor man that has roved,
Loved and thought himself beloved,
From a glad kindness cannot take his eyes.

Not being a child of the '60s, I have no understanding of Mr Hoffman's fondness of hallucinogenic chemical substances (I was of the "Just Say NO!" era...). But I did always find his research to be interesting. May he rest in peace.
