The Youtube thing..
Oh, and speaking of Internet memes...
I was researching a great polka we play in session called The Finnish Polka.
It turns out the tune comes from a song first recorded in the 1930's called
"Ieva's Polka". This song was recently rerecorded by the band Loituma, and
for some reason someone put it with a video loop from a Japanese cartoon
of a girl twirling a leek. Because the Internet is a strange place, that video
was wildly popular and Loituma became... well, not famous, but certainly
more widely known than they were. Here's their live performance of the
song:

(I'm sure this is old news to Scandinavians and Internet hepcats, but I thought
folks who play that tune might be interested in the song version.)

I know there's gotta be a moral here somewhere, but I'm laughing too hard to think what it might be.

So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!

Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!

This was a viral video, but I missed the bus 'til recently.
It's a hand dance done to a Daft Punk's "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger".
Very boring for 50seconds, then starts to get interesting. Really makes its
case one minute after that.
