Turning the Pages

Post by mukade »

I took a look at the British Library's Turning the Pages project today.
I was happy to find it has had a major update.
The old Shockwave was good, but the new version is stunning.

I just spent a couple of hours lost in the Lindisfarne Gospels.

Unfortunately it only runs on Internet Explorer.

Some way cool stuff here, Mukade. Thanks for the link. The very first page of the Luttrell Psalter has a bagpiper on the top right. How illuminated is that? And who would ever have imagined that they built a rocket in Sherborne?:D

Here I am, on the road again
Here I am, upon the stage
There I go, playing star again
Here I go, turn the page

Wow, what an amazing thing! I have to use the Shockwave version but I felt I could see very well. I just had time to look at a few pages of the Flemish masters in miniature-----that magnifying glass is so great because I can never see the details well enough. I can't wait to go back and look through them all. Thanks for that link and what a wonderful service by the British Library.

I'm not too keen on the British Library. They recently published a full fascimile of the Luttrell Psalter for only US$750 (before shipping). I would love a copy, but not that badly. :o

A Scandinavian colleague told me about the Online Eddas:
