I dunno... I think helping a kid know that they *can* kick the monster's behind is a good thing... and anyway, didn't she say she heard it on TV? (which, of course, means that I agree with you.) I'm glad she got straightened out by mum... and the "Oh..." was just icing...gonzo914 wrote:What a terrible thing to teach a 3-year-old to say.
How irresponsible.
How aggressive.
How violent.
How very un-Quaker to teach a child to offer to kick someone's ass.

If you really stop and think about it, 'butt' is not a euphemism for 'ass'; the two words are synonyms. One just happens to be a taboo word for U.S. culture. In some cultures, 'ass' is nothing more than the the normal word for what you sit on. I find it very amusing to remember that when I was growing up, I wasn't even allowed to say 'butt.' In my family, we sat on our 'bottoms.'Innocent Bystander wrote:So "Butt" is better than "Ass"!?!
Quick! Teach that child a euphemism!

Yep, same here.emmline wrote:Yes, same thing in my family. My mother found the term butt to be too crude.
