Mob-made hurricane theory is ridiculed
IDAHO FALLS (AP) — An Idaho weatherman says Japan's Yakuza mafia used a Russian-made electromagnetic generator to cause Hurricane Katrina in a bid to avenge itself for the Hiroshima atom bomb attack — and that this technology will soon be wielded again to hit another U.S. city.
Meteorologist Scott Stevens, a nine-year veteran of KPVI-TV in Pocatello, said he discovered the weather theory on the Internet in 1998. It's now detailed on Stevens' Web site, www.weatherwars.info, the Idaho Falls Post Register reported.
Scientists discount Stevens' claims as ludicrous.
"It's laughable to think (Katrina) could have been man-made," said Rob Young, a hurricane expert at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, N.C.
Stevens says a little-known oversight in physical laws makes it possible to create and control storms — especially if you're armed with the Cold War-era weapon said to have been made by the Russians in 1976.
Stevens' Web site also notes that Katrina and Ivan — the name given to a destructive hurricane that hit Florida in September 2004 — both sound Russian.
Stevens' bosses at KPVI-TV say he can think and say what he wants — as long as he keeps the station out of the debate and acknowledges that his views are his own opinion. "He doesn't talk about it on his weathercast," said KPVI general manager Bill Fouch.

The only ridicule was at the hands of chiff board members.
The Yakuza is not to be taken lightly. They get big scary tattoos and cut the occasional finger off themselves. We need to get a message out to Austin Powers.

http://tinwhistletunes.com/clipssnip/newspage.htm Officially, the government uses the term “flap,” describing it as “a condition, a situation or a state of being, of a group of persons, characterized by an advanced degree of confusion that has not quite reached panic proportions.”
You know how the newscasters always talk like they think people believe that the weather man causes the weather? This could be evidence that weather men really do believe they have such a power... or that it's out there to be had.
During my last stint at DLI, one of my coworkers pointed out one of the Mandarin teachers strolling along--with a metal bucket on his head. Seems you need that extra thickness of metal to really keep the rays out.
