Schroeder as depicted by an American cartoonist.

Thanks for well wishes. Without getting too worked up, I just wanted to make the point.
Week, while I may kid, from time to time about Mr. Bush, I do believe you have a very valid point on this matter.

Believe it or not, like a lot of my humour, this was originally unconscious: I was using what I assumed to be an American turn of phrase, the monkey/organ-grinder reference, to describe what a lot of people believe to be the real power relationship to be. But once I had it written I saw the added value and let it stand. I'm really quite a charitable person most of the time....

I'm even heroically restraining the urge to take the title of this thread as a pretext for some questionable humour :D

Don't know why. This quote keeps popping into my mind .... :boggle:

The Weekenders wrote:I still don't think there is any place in civilized discourse to call the President a monkey, chimp or ape.
But I do, although it takes some restraint for me to tone it down and limit it to just the simian references.

I was going to post those monkey pictures, but jsluder beat me to them, so I humbly submit the below link as an alternative form of presidential mocking. As far as I know, it's still legal to do that.

Well, that's certainly a way to bring us all together and get away from the harsh divisions in the country.

One of the hallmarks of the present regime -- to summarily dismiss dissent as divisiveness. If you are not with me, then you are against me. If you are not in favor of patent medicine, then you are for letting Uncle Henry die.

As for me, I fell no obligation to "bring us all together" because I wasn't the one who tore us asunder.

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming -- How about them prehistoric dudes, eh? Looks like they were here about 34,000 years before the creation. I wonder how the gaping primates on the Kansas State Board of Education will handle that.

(p.s. -- I stole that Uncle Henry line from Mencken, but given the circumstances, I'm sure he would not mind.)

Kerry and the Dems spent a good part of the campaign accusing Bush of dividing the country after promising to be a "uniter, not divider." For what its worth.

Nobody's trying to blame the Welsh, at least not for Bush, though we don't mind if you want to take the blame!

Yes, but I am so looking forward to having high tea---errr, maybe just tea, I don't know the niceties---- on my vacation in Canada. I doubt I can find the same little place, but it had pictures of the Queen all around the walls and ladies in funny knitted hats were there. Oh, it was heaven, just like being in a British novel. And the little sandwiches and odd things came on an epergne (I think one might call it).

The title of this thread is quite a bit different than I originally intended. There wasn't room enough, so it had to be reworded, entirely.

No, you're right, the English are to blame for everything, just as well I'm Welsh.
