Does anyone else do this?

Post by Wormdiet »

By "This" I mean websurf with some type of musical instrument in hand to mess with?

FOr me it's either a guitar or a flute or a whistle.

Am I a freak?
If so, is it because I do this or just because?

I almost always have my whistle with me when I'm surfing the internet (although I don't right now  ). But then I like to pop onto Bro. Steve's site at whim, so it's a good thing to have a whistle on hand.

I have two whistles, a flute, and a kalimba lying next to my computer keyboard. I also have a music stand with various books of music. Right now the two pieces that are presenting themselves to me are "Old Maids of Galway", an Irish reel and "Blackberry Blossom", an American fiddle tune.

Also, when I watch the evening news on TV, I have a mandolin on a stand which sits next to my chair. I must confess that sometimes I can't even hear what the commentators are saying because I am getting carried away on the mandolin. My guess is that I probably am not missing all that much of importance.

You're welcome. ;)

Although, honestly, mostly when I'm at the computer, I put the mp3 collection on random
on my Celtic music directory. I always have something within reach though, and sometimes
play at the computer.

I do, however, have the same habit as Doug, and tend to play flute or whistle over the
commercials when watching TV. Sometimes right over the show too, but not so much. Unless
I'm really in the groove.

When at home I have my harmonicas and a whistle nearby. If I'm on the dulcimer site I might have my mountain dulcimer handy.

I'm working on Blackberry Blossom on the harmonica. Having trouble with the B part. I keep falling into the B part of Stoney Point.

we actually suggest to out dulcimer students that they keep the instrument next to the computer, or their TV chair, or where ever they might have 5 minutes or so to "noodle".

At home there's a whistle (Brewer - rosewood - very nice) in a drawer under the lap top. If I find a site that holds my attention for more than a minute or two, I start to play. Sadly I don't type well, so I'm unable to play and comment at the same time. Have others mastered this art?

At work, I'm in cubicle city. I suppose I could hold a whistle, but it's not the right place to play it.

I often have a whistle nearby...as I look down, now actually, I see my Meg C, my Generation B-flat, my litttle Walton D, and my Woodstock in D, laid out in front of my computer. Mind you I have alot of tunes saved on my computer, so it makes sense :D

I think somebody needs to find a device that allows internet navigation with the feet. Think of the savings in practice time@!

You might try a large keyboard, i.e. : http://modasylum.com/articles/lyo/plexi ... /final.jpg

Or perhaps learn an instrument playable with the feet...?
