Fun. I was surprised to see no mention of the chanterelle, (5th string drone). That appears to be an American invention, possibly inspired by the bagpipe drone. And both employ animal skins. Distant cousins, they are! Thanks!

And they both begin with "B". And bodhrán. There's something about the "B" instruments ... :)

While we're on the "B"s, lets not forget the Bombard.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombard_%28music%29.

So, for a real good time, have a band called "The Killer B's". Of course, the lineup is: bagpipes, banjo, bodhran, and bombard. Hmmm . . maybe bass too.

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

Bagpipes, banjo, bodhrán, bones ... and box ... and bouzouki.

Flutes and fiddles and fipples.

What strange patterns.

Since we're covering vilified instruments, ever wonder where Shaker Eggs come from?

Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

Does that photo caption say "Jennie and her chickens"? I'll be damned - there they are!

I was hoping someone'd notice. Shakers...eggs...chickens...Jennie...I smell a conspiracy that could blow this ITM thing right out of the water.
