Officially our monetary system is based on tens.I.D.10-t wrote:I'm still trying to figure out where I can find the 1/10 penny so I can get change back on a gallon of gas.
10 mills = 1 cent

You'd import them from China.Suppose the U.S. stopped making pennies?
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

I hope that makes any better sense.
Gymnosperm refers to the the fern class of plants as opposed to angiosperms which is the class from which we usually get wood from. There seems to be a great poetic license in operation for to mean wood by a reference to the ferns.

Your're barking up the wrong family tree. This whole thing is becoming a little seedy.talasiga wrote:Is it a thesauric translation without botanic discretion?dwest wrote:Thank you. That is absolutely, exactly what I did not mean.Nanohedron wrote:Translation:

Re: Suppose the U.S. stopped making pennies?
Well, if we stop making pennies will that further devalue our currency?
We don't have a Gold or Silver Standard but basically Pennies are a "Copper Standard". Do they add real value to the penny or not counted for. After all, it is the only normal US currency in print that has value (unintended value). So if we counted all our pennies then the US dollar could be worth a little more.

I don't think that pennies actually have much copper content anymore:Daniel_Bingamon wrote:Well, if we stop making pennies will that further devalue our currency?

It's a known fact that too much zinc can cause a copper deficiency.Redwolf wrote:I don't think that pennies actually have much copper content anymore:Daniel_Bingamon wrote:Well, if we stop making pennies will that further devalue our currency?

And that if you drill a little hole in the edge of a penny with a jewelers drill and drop it into an acid (I want to say hydrochloric, but honestly can't recall), it will eat out the zinc and you'll be left with a shell of a penny, perfect shape, almost no weight.dwest wrote:It's a known fact that too much zinc can cause a copper deficiency.Redwolf wrote:I don't think that pennies actually have much copper content anymore:Daniel_Bingamon wrote:Well, if we stop making pennies will that further devalue our currency?

Metals and trees remain metals and trees - regardless of who they associate with, or what rules are applied to them.
Rules exist in your head only - who let them in? .. you did.
A penny is a disc of metal .. at one time they had holes in them and you coukd use them to stop a bolt loosening. That was their only practical value. .. These days they are used solely ro fuel your delusions. Most of them oblige. They loose nothing from it .. but you do.
(E: U gyz r sooo pwned - no mter hw many dickshneze you google, you pwned from the starter - coz U hadda google before U hadda brane u like = one you could sell .. the oldest prfeshun! Yes? Go HO!! . mid you .. satiety has become common - have it if you must .. it's not an "against" thng )
