I don't think there have been many periods in the last 7 or 8 years in which I have been this uninvolved in Chiff & Fipple. I'm way overdue on an issue of the newsletter and, of course, even with all of the negative stirrings on the board, I have not been able to pull together the time to participate. I played the whistle for about five minutes this morning and it occurred to me I haven't played in 2 or 3 weeks before that.

My practice is busy (and it is good to have work), my public-speaking calendar is crowded, and I have many family matters that are attracting almost all of my "spare time." My mother-in-law's illness occupies some time. My middle daughter is in college-selection mode. And, my involvement in poetry has become a preferred way to spend much of my time.

All this by way of apology and to express my hopes to become more active in all of this again when the dust settles a bit.

In the meantime, peace be with us all.

Dale

Hi Stranger, it's good to hear from you!

Yes our lives do get busy and there aren't enough hours in a day to do it all, as much as we may wish.

I have somewhat gone back to painting, as my whistles and flute sit idle, but I find a connection with the paint as if they are different notes, as I think that you find with words.

The Muses have many ways of being expressed.

But we know on this board that the DALEFORCE is always present, Sometimes strongly, times distant, but always there.

It's good to here from you.

Just be careful that Euterpe doesn't get jealous if she hears that you've been hanging around with that Polyhymnia tramp.

(OK, I admit it, I had to look them up)

For those that are slightly puzzled:

The nine Muses:
Calliope - poetry
Clio - History (And boy, does history need a muse....ment)
Erato - Love poetry and mimicry
Euterpe - Music
Melpomene - Tragedy
Polyhymnia - Sacred Poetry
Terpsichore - Dancing
Thalia - Comedy
Urania - Astronomy

I hear ya, Dale.

My only chick is fully fledged and off on her own. Did I think I'd get more time to do things? Ha!

My guitar player is learning to pick out tunes on a keyboard, God bless 'im, and all kinds of things are swirling around in strange new directions.

Must be the season--I'm sick of cold and snow and ready for a change of almost any sort.

Anyway, nice to see you surface again.

It seems Dale that you have been a way far to long, there's no stampeding to this post. Your force is weak!

I suggest that Hail to the Chief be played, to get their attention.

Dale, you and all your efforts are appreciated, whether large or small! Yours too Rich!! You guys have invested a huge chunk of your time here, with often very little reward.

You both have made this board a great place to be from the beginner to the most advanced player. And from one who is stuck somewhere near the bottom end of the middle - THANKS!!

Cheryl

Once again, our benevolent leader reminds us that we must always be ready for his return, just like a mighty O'Riordan blowing Freudian Santa. Not unlike the time that I was in the desert in North Nevada, near GRXXCVX and observed the crysta////SIGNAL INTERRUPT////TRACER INITIATED PROGRAM=DWISELY1////

Hey Dale,

I know what you mean. I have been playing the violin for hours each day and only seem to pick up the whistle when I'm, well, you know where some people practice. So welcome back! To tell you the truth, I've also been away from the board, so I never noticed your absence. Sorry.
