Goat 2010

Post by Mitch »

As most of you know, I have to say the word "goat" every now and then on this forum. . It's a bit like how Mell Gibson had to keep buying a copy of "The Catcher on the Rye" in that whatsacallit movie thing he did with Julie Roberts .. my goat could care less.

Well, it's 2010 - damnit, another decade in another century!

A place and a world where whistles rule in secret and all who play them wonder what the mystery is?

Why does it continue to be such a secret?

Consider the goat. A goat will jump up mountains. Every leap is fraught with certain death and they leap and leap - even the little ones - "Kid on a Mountain" is a slip-jig ..and yet they never slip!

Play a slip jig this year - play a set! And watch the dancers apear!

Go down a dell and play an air. This is my 2010 resolution. This year i will play airs in dells.

What is YOUR whistle resolution for 2010?

What is the air you will play in your dell?

Can you leap as far as your goat?
All the best!

My goats are not particularly leapy. They limit their activities to a couple of stumps in the goat yard. I could probably out leap them if I weren't so lazy.

As for playing aires in a Dell, I must also pass as I have only a Compaq and a Mac.

Awhile back I saw a goat standing on a metal drain pipe that was sticking out over a draw.
I only saw that once and never saw the goat again. The pipe is still there. Almost as mysterious as the mystery that draws folks to whistles.

Good word--goat!

You're all kidding, right?

One word response: "cheese".
I respect people's privilege to hold their beliefs, whatever those may be (within reason), but respect the beliefs themselves? You gotta be kidding!

Ok, since I have absolutely no idea what you're all talking about, how about the derivation of "goat" terminology? I forget why the "goat" is the one who caused the loss of the game; or he got your goat....

My New Goat's resolution would be to get better and better each month. Shouldn't be too hard as I've been doing it for two years. I also want to go to the Big Whistle weekend in Bury or Preston (that's UK folks) or where ever it is this year instead fo missing it, yet again.
Finally feel like I'm getting somewhere. It's only taken 6 years.

As long as it's 'goat' and not 'goatse', you're fine.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

Does it have more punch?

Rather than a goat, how about a pig? A party pig. A party pig full of a nice porter that is almost ready! YUM!

Here in the Land of Dell
there are few airs to be had
Tho' there are goats aplenty--
They chew down sprouts
and up tree branches--
Leapless, listless and
bleating, not
whistling

I don't know... There is something about the carbonation... I am spreading the word! It only holds about a gallon and a half, though. You may need 2 for a decent party! :D
