I'll be damned...when did all this start up again? I heard Michael stopped making whistles. :-?

I believe he simply scaled down his operation (Maybe took a break). Now I expect he will sell then as he makes them as opposed to taking orders a head of time.

Perhaps he noticed the high prices folks were paying for Copelands on eBay, and he said, "Whoa! I gotta get in on that!"

Can't say I blame him one bit.

This just actually might be something to do with Christmas.

Copeland whistles are very nice. I have only two. One Bb that is mesmerizing, and a soprano D that can be played soft or above a session.

So does anyone know what's going on with Michael? I see this thread and another one about sending in for a repair. It doesn't look like the nickel whistles did so well on eBay. Is he back at work, or what? Or is the silence on this thread a suggestion that it's all a mystery???? I've heard so much good about his work, and would love to try his whistles some day...Is there a story here (I'm a relative newbie, so not on to the scuttlebutt, if any)...
Thanks,
Jay

Michael has been sporadically active on Facebook. A little quiet since his birthday last month. Remember the man is relatively recently married now, and likes to spend some time with his family. He's previously stated that instead of working from a wait list, that when he feels like throwing together some whistles, he'll offer them on eBay, as it appears he's done.

As to repairs, hey, stuff slips some times. I've sent an instrument to him for service, and while it took slightly longer than stated for the return, it did receive his focused attention, and I was satisfied with the work accomplished.

Just thought I'd chip in on this one,

I can't believe that with only 2 days to go there are still 2
nickel high D whistles for sale at $340 'buy it now' :poke:
There seemed to a lot of hype about Copeland whistles when they
weren't available then a few come along at original prices and no
one buys them :-?

I got one 2or3 months ago at that price and are worth every penny.

Just a thought.......Nick

When there was a perceived shortage, prices skyrocketed. Now we see the reverse effect. The market is fickle.

Thanks folks. I'm glad to hear he's okay. A new wife/family is certainly a good reason to put other things on a slightly back burner, and I for one am happy he's making whistles again!
Best,
Jay
