Here are Some Impempe Whistle Pictures.

I have my tuneable Impempe D whistle a few weeks and I am really enjoying it. Very even balance between octaves.
No flipping between octaves and no screeching on high pressure. Very pleasing and satisfying tone.
The design of the fipple is like the one used in the Kerry Songbird, and is, I believe, taken from an organ pipe design.
It gives a slightly breathy complex tone which is most pleasing.

Ian Turnbull is a very nice guy to deal with. Little bit of postal delay from South Africa, and also
the Banking system over there is years behind the times. These little hassles are worth going through
for excellent whistles at affordable prices.

I will record a tune or two soon with the Impempe for Clips and Snips.

Thanks Tony, interesting pics! On pic 3, what're the bumps that appear to be part of the fipple plug?

Looks like condensation to me. I thought these weren't tunable, damn I may have to get one.

So I took a magnifying glass and looked
- nothing there -

I did have a tootle just before I took the pics,
condensation or if you like - spit!

So does GFM and Merlin (Scottish based company making Low Whistles). The condensation thing happens on my GFM and Harpers.

I never, never, never have condensation problems on my Albas. That, for me, makes all the difference. 'Course, then there's the fact that they sound so darn good ...

I have not found condensation to be a problem in the Impempe!
In fact I did not know that there was moisture on the fipple plug
in the pictures, until it was pointed out to me. Metal fipple plugs
will gather a bit of moistue when they are cold. I find that with my
Chieftans, but I find that plastic fipple plugs give the whistle a
different tone, less clear or maybe bell-like is how I would describe it.

The difference for me with the 'Impempe' is that it has a very very
good sound-quality to price ratio!

Better late than never?

Here are a couple of sound clips of the
Impempe tunable D whistle. The playing
leaves a lot to be desired but you may still
be able to hear the whistle sufficiently well
despite the fumbling.

Does the whistle have clogging problems? I really like the way they look but thats always been my issue with aluminum

Dupanol or the soap trick keeps condensation from clogging on my aluminum whistles.
