Let's sing the National Anthem!!!

Our country reeks of trees
Our yaks are really large
And they smell like rotting beef carcasses
And we have to look after them
Our saddle sores are the best
We proudly wear women's clothing
And searing sand blows up our skirts

And the buzzards they soar overhead
Poisonous snakes will devour us whole
And our bones will bleach in the sun
And we will probably go to @#$%
And this is our great reward
For being the Ro-oy-al Ca-a-nadian Kilted Yaksmen!

Well, sure enough it is Canada Day! I had nearly forgotten. Happy Birthday to the Dominion of Canada, and to our many Canadian friends around the world. Image

I called my sister this morning at 8:20 am to sing her the national anthem, like I always do on Dominion Day. She hung up on me. It's really sad when a sibling who shares a Canadian upbringing values sleep over deep-rooted affection for the Great White North.

Yes, and despite the warnings from our neo-con Tory Provincial Minister of the Environment, I lit up the barbecue in honor of Canada Day!

(We have a Tory, Thatcherite provincial government that was not elected by the majority of the voters......sound familiar? Thanks to them, Ontario has the second worst pollution record in North America, second only to Texas. Terrible smog due to coal fired electricity plants that the Tories brought back to life and relaxed environmental restrictions for big corporations. But we're not supposed to barbecue because it will add to the air pollution..... )

O Canada! Our home and native land!
True patriot love thou dost in us command.
We see thee rising fair, dear land,
The True North, strong and free;
And stand on guard, O Canada,
We stand on guard for thee.

O Canada! Where pines and maples grow.
Great prairies spread and lordly rivers flow.
How dear to us thy broad domain,
From East to Western Sea,
Thou land of hope for all who toil!
Thou True North, strong and free!

O Canada! Beneath thy shining skies
May stalwart sons and gentle maidens rise,
To keep thee steadfast through the years
From East to Western Sea,
Our own beloved native land!
Our True North, strong and free!

Ruler supreme, who hearest humble prayer,
Hold our dominion within thy loving care;
Help us to find, O God, in thee
A lasting, rich reward,
As waiting for the Better Day,
We ever stand on guard.

O Canada! O Canada!
O Canada! We stand on guard for thee.
O Canada! We stand on guard for thee.
