The Alex Green Whistle Festival_Aberdeen 1 - 3 March 2024

Post by kenny »

I can't give away too much detail at the moment - still a lot of negotiation going on - but the Elphinstone Institute of Aberdeen University has announced the following on its' website :

https://www.abdn.ac.uk/elphinstone/publ ... al-728.php

"Furthering the legacy of Alex Green (1930–2017) as a creator, teacher, and master of the North-East tin whistle style, this festival celebrates the tin whistle as a traditional instrument, showcasing and offering multi-level workshops and offering an exciting programme of performances. We’re delighted to partner with Aberdeen Performing Arts to deliver this event, at the Lemon Tree and other venues, from Friday 1 March to Sunday 3 March 2024.

As part of the festival there will be a one-day conference on Friday 1 March 2024. Please check our website and social media channels for further information.

Keep checking this site and social media for updates".

Here's Sara, - who presented a thesis on Alex's music to the Elphinstone Institute a few years back - talking about Alex and the coming-soon weekend :

Also, if anyone is coming to Aberdeen for the weekend, several of the ticketed events, including Mary Bergin's Masterclass are now showing "Limited Availability" on the ticketing website, so don't leave it to the last minute, book your tickets in advance.
