OK, it was a quip. But Ben was talking about sessions and playing 3/4 airs as waltzes seems to be not uncommon as a way of regularizing the rhythm so that people can join in without tripping over differences of intepretation so not sticking ones neck out and going it alone.

Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

We need a poll that rates the popularity of airs, jigs, reels, and stuff but I don't know anything about ITM to know what all the choices are. I would appreciate if someone made this poll and put the word "Smackdown" in the title of the poll. Please Denny, please. I'll use an emoticon.
