Hey All!! Brand new here...

Post by CrazedHavoc »

Hi... i've been perusing this forum for a little bit, and then i was like, hmmm... maybe i should join!

So, i have been practicing the tin whistle for about 5 days now. I've got my cuts and hits kind of down, but it's a no- go on the rolls so far. Hopefully that will change. I bought a Walton's little black D and a Mellow D to start out with. I'm kind of hoping that these are relatively decent to start out with. I was also looking at a Susato Kildare in D. I love playing so far! Actually, i have been playing concert flute for ten years and i was looking for a new style of music and i love it.

The members here seem very nice and helpful, so... hello, and i'm glad to have found this forum.

Yes, welcome! It is indeed a friendly place. You'll find the occasional flare-up, but that's intentional, to keep us from getting bored. This is a great place to hang out and talk whistles, and there are lots of experienced and helpful people here. Enjoy yourself!

Those little black whistles are decent, just they don't have any volume, which is good for practicing. Makes the people around you hate you less. They're also so delicate...I think I went through four of them before I stopped buying them.

hehe... yeah. I bought the little black one specifically for practicing. I have gone into full throttle WhoA already. I received my Susato kildare model D today and i'm in love.

Welcome!

Many whistlers practice with ear plugs and it's worth getting some IMO. You have some very nice whistles to start your journey with.

He he...what about earplugs for the family? My 11-yr-old daughter storms around the house while I'm practicing, and usually I just try to ignore her, but the other day she came up to me, "MOM, I CAN HEAR YOU EVEN IF i GO TO THE FAR CORNER OF THE BACK YARD!!"

Welcome from another newbie!
