- Tell us something.: You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free - Location: Loren has left the building.

Some additions:
Rubato: watch the conductor
Fermata: watch the conductor
Crescendo: watch the conductor
Tenuto: watch the conductor
Tempo Di Scalded Cat: curse the conductor
Sforzando: play the other notes quieter
Marcatissimo: flat and harsh
Legato: slow down, stop following the conductor
Trill: wiggle between the wrong not and a wronger note
Cut Time: drummers speed up, everyone else slow down, and we'll all come into phase every few bars, like the winshield wipers on a bus.
As you can probably tell, it's been a rough week with the bands.

Had a student come back and visit from Highschool (I'm the elementary band guy, now).Congratulations wrote:This is probably the most true thing I've ever read.Chiffed wrote:Sforzando: play the other notes quieter
"Mr. W, you're wrong - the band teacher says that 'crescendo' means 'get louder'"
"Huh?"
"Well, you always said 'crescendo' means 'start softer'"
"Oh... er... sorry".
Kids are great.
