Aerosmith: "Janie's Got A Gun"

That's me on the Bari Sax.

Also, Veni veni Emmanuel, 'cause it's getting on that time of year.
Happily tooting when my dogs let me.

Haha,
I almost always have some ITM tune stuck in my head. I listen to the Chieftain's so much, it almost never ends! Tunes like, Ferny Hill, or Maggie in the Woods. Maybe I'm obsessed with them and Paddy's piping, but, you have to admit, it is awesome. Or so I think. But it's not always Chieftains, sometimes I'll go to sleep with some Pogues 'playing in the ol' jukebox.'

If you want something other than those songs you mentioned, just start singing christmas tunes...

And it's by Aerosmith, not Arrowsmith.

BTW, my eldest daughter once wrote that the best way to get a tune out of your head is to recite nursery rhymes (spoken, not sung).

I sometimes get calls to play sax with a funk band and the last time, for days, my internal stereo was playing "boogie oogie" and "mogachokalakayaya" (Lady Marmalde). I need to spend a few hours with my whistles and re-program it to "Flowers of Edinburgh" or something else really nice!

I usually end up with Mediaeval Baebes melodies in my head.

Here, I'll bless you all with the complete version with a video. No need to thank me, no, it's just my duty as a fellow fippler... :)

Just FYI, this morning I woke up hearing "These Boots Are Made for Walking" which by this afternoon has morphed into "Little Arrows."

No need to thank me. :D

Tell us something.: Longtime member of Chiff and Fipple. I own/have owned more whistles than a person should, I think. But I’m not complaining.

I'm sorry to inflict these on you (but not really). One of these should stick and annoy:

"Billy, don't be a hero, don't be a fool with your life.
Billy don't be a hero, come back and make me your wife."

"We had joy, we had fun. we had
seasons in the sun." (Shoot me now, I can't stop it from playing.)

"Where do I begin
To tell the story of how great a love can be
The sweet love story that is older than the sea
The simple truth about the love she brings to me
Where do I start."

Enough for today.

(These boots were made for walking. . . what a great tune to wake up to.)

At the moment Foggy Dew has been repeating in my head for three days. God, I love that song! It sends shivers down me spine everytime I hear it.

At the moment I'm waiting for my request for the song to come up on Highlander Radio.
"Playing the whistle is nothing impressive. All one has to do is cover the right holes at the right time, and the instrument plays itself."

Stuck in my head?

Post by LiamMacGabhainn »

I always have some tune or other in mine, but fortunately (until now) it has usually been until the next tune comes along. That's the curse of growing up in a musical family, I guess. More recently, though I've been bouncing back and forth between a piece by César Franck (which I'm learning for the pipe organ :boggle: ) and Off to California (which I'm learning to break into whistle playing :-? ).

I know the feeling of picking up an instrument and all the tunes leaving the head, too. All that's left is thunder - and a high-pitched squeel like floresent lights. :swear: Is there any hope for that last thing? The MDs don't think so. Fortunately, I don't hear it while I'm actually playing music.

Oh, Yeah ... I forgot ...

Post by LiamMacGabhainn »

I was going to close the last post with an anecdote about the time I was playing in my dad's basement (I was about 7 years old). I had a piece of wood and a short-handled garden tool with a small spade on one end and a two-tined fork on the other. I was chopping the spade into the wood, then pulling it out again. Once (the last time, believe me) I pulled it out and one of the tines literally stuck into my forehead - dead center. I stuck fast, and wouldn't fall out when I let go the handle. I had to forcibly pull it out.

Frankly, between that and the tunes being stuck in my head, I'll take the tunes, any day!

OUCH! Glad you didn't poke your eye out!

But the wine and the song like the seasons have all gone . . . . . . . .

The songs I get stuck in my head are usually the ones that I hate, that make me hate myself, or make me hate the recording artist... or any combination of the above.

If I ever meet Daniel Bedingfield, so help me I'm gonna... :swear:
And whether the blood be highland, lowland or no.
And whether the skin be black or white as the snow.
Of kith and of kin we are one, be it right, be it wrong.
As long as our hearts beat true to the lilt of a song.
