I used to have a Susato (or five). If you covered my eyes and played the scales on my Susatos and a r*****er, I'm really not sure I could tell the difference.

Uhhh, I just have one. (Walton's D) I bought it a year ago in Ireland while on vacation there and have played it every day since. I've been sorely tempted to get another, (several actualy) but I guess I'm just a one whistle guy....at least until this one breaks (might not be long...I've already folded this one twice).

There are benefits to having just one whistle, as long as it's a good one. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

P.S., post more.

Tell us something.: I play whistles. I sell whistles. This seems just a BIT excessive to the cause. A sentence or two is WAY less than 100 characters.

Hmm, lets see:

Generation (Many, a few of each key)
Clarke (2 original and 3 Sweetones)
Feadog (just one, D mark3 I think)
Doolin (1 two-piece D)
Walton (one normal D, a LBW and a Guinness)
Oak (2, C and D)
Shaw (D)
Susato (wb A)
Syn (Full set of Aluminium whistles)
Chieftain (Low D)
Dixon (low D combo)

That makes 11, I wonder if I left some poor whistle out.

I play actually not so much different whistles/flutes :

1 Susato soprano D one piece whistle
1 clarke soprano D whistle (tweaked by myself)
1 special whistle (tweaked body of a generation with a (i guess) waltons head ,sounds brilliant now (soprano d or C )
1 self constructed crystal whistle Soprano D ( not perfect yet but on the way to that)

will write in another time about the self worked whistles.
need professional whistles now,but thats another thread.

Alba, Burke, Chieftain, Clarke, Copeland, Dixon, Generation, Hoover, Overton (Colin+Bernard), Walton, Susato, Indian-Bamboo-Cheapos, Indonesian-Bamboo-Cheapos, Indian-metal-cheapo.
I think that's about it, so, not counting the cheapos it's:

11 brands (or 12 if you count the 2 overton-makers as separate)

Erm.

Generation x 3, Feadog x 2, Clare, Clarke x 2, Susato, Dixon, Burke. Mainly cheapies, then, but the Burke's a beaut. Tully on the way next year too, and I am on the verge of a Sweetheart. Whistle that is, not a girl

Please Sir, can I have some more?

Here is the inventory today:

Alba - 1
Clare - 2
Clarke - 3
Dixon - 1
Feadan - 1
Feadog - 1
Generation -13
Hoover - 1
Humphrey - 2
Jubilee - 1
Susato - 1
Waltons - 3

This does not include a few selfmade. All of the above whistles are good. They represent a lot of different keys and sounds. One whistle does not fulfill all moods. I choose a whistle by how I feel today. The most often played are the Alba, Humphreys, Hoover, Feadog and Gen C in Nickel.

Clarke (7) + 1 tweaked
Generation (6)
Susato (1)
Shaw (3)
Alba (1)
Dixon (2)
Cooperman (1)
Feadog (2)
Clare (1)
Unbranded (1)
Schylling (1)

Anyone else got one of these last? I bought it for $4.99 in the US last year, and frankly it would have been a rip-off if it had been 10% of that. It looks quite nice - black mouthpiece and "nickel" tube, but it is totally unplayable.

O'Riordan, Water Weasel, Susato, and my Generation are all I ever play (in roughly that order). I've also got an old-style Burke, a Silkstone, and a misc. cheapie or two gathering dust.

IMO Susatos are cheap, durable, and they play well, if a little plastic-y. They're the perfect whistle to take places you wouldn't take a good whistle. And they are a great source of cheap, reliable whistles in odd keys. (I'm sure one day my B-natural Susato is going to come in handy....)
