Tell us something.: I became interested in the beauty and versatility of Irish whistles and music over 20 years ago when I first found the Chiff boards. Yes, I do have WHOA, and I love my whistles. :)

Very OT: Bizarre Ebay auction

Post by Cees »

I never surf Ebay myself and don't know the first thing about it, but on a family website this morning my cousin posted the following link to an Ebay gem (people are actually bidding on this thing!!!) :

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 2948761136

Enjoy...or not!!

I haven't laughed so hard in a week.

People really *will* sell anything on e-bay..

The seller's sense of humor and language reminds me of Anna Martinez.

For all you know, this might be a conceptual art project. Several artistes are big on bra-things.

$ 121... From bras to riches?

Now, there's the note "Seller will ship to US only".
How does he (she, if not a brahman) want to get international status, if (s)he turns down a bid from Cologne museum, or a posh gallery in Zürich?

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

Conceptual art...pah. I've made sculptures out of found objects (objets trouvés sounds so much more validating, yes?), and of course the whimsy is what it's all about. But this is just nothing more than a skanky old shmatte, and the seller a bored entrepreneur with contempt for her market.

To have the presumption of making "art" of it requires some intervention, reformatting. Like the local exhibit of rows of jars filled with bodily fluids and plastic toy soldiers floating around in 'em. Yeah. Now that was some art, folks. Ya, sure, you betcha.

Knowing what some of eBay is like, I wonder how many of those bidders are shills or the sellers buddies.

Wasn't there a bag of garbage on display somewhere? But you didn't know it was garbage, you were left to wonder if it was garbage or air....

If it's art they ought to throw in some elephant poop. Here's some *real* art.

i wonder if ebay is tracking the bidders and noting their possible serial killer tendencies?

if people are willing to pay $121 for that, i wonder, for instance, how much i could get from some nice, tame foot/shoe fetishists for some old shoes? then i could turn around and buy whistles with the proceeds!
