Have you seen Lunasa in concert?
Hi,
Next month, Lunasa will be performing very close to me and I'd love to see them in concert.
I have just one concern and hopefully those who have attended a Lunasa concert can help.
Do people leave their seats and stand around the stage while they perform?
I went to a Seven Nations concert last year and left because not only couldn't I see the band, the crowd was so noisy it ruined the music. That'll teach me to buy tickets early thinking that being up front would be cool.
I'd rather buy the CD then put up with that.

You probably going to see them at the University of Hartford, right? No, they don't stand up. You'll see the band. Steve Dietrich, who organizes the concerts is a really great guy, and Lunasa has been there every year for the past four years at least. Great show, can highly recommend it, and a fairly small venue. Go, and don't worrry about not seeing. Not only will you see the band, you'll get a chance to chat up Kevin and Cillian and Sean and the rest afterwards.

Re: Lunasa in concert
Thanks Bloomy, that's great news.
It will either be Hartford or Schenectady.
So the guys don't mind if people wonder backstage to meet them? That's great. Glenngerry Bhoys are like that too. Nice group.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'm pretty much healed up from my recent surgery. I'm going stir crazy and that would be something really worth looking forward to.

Slowair,
do NOT miss the concert, they are absolutely fabulous live. You can probably pick up their CDs there cheaper than in the shops or the net too, and after seeing them you will want to, so take cash as a precaution.
I was lucky enough to see them play at the Hammersmith Irish Centre last year. Many big names in ITM play the Centre, even though it's a tiny venue with maybe room for 200 people. We all sat round tables and tried not to look too excited.
People didn't crowd the stage, but one or two folks did get up and start dancing when the band said it was OK!
If you ever get a chance to see Flook, I thoroughly recommend them too.

Something tells me this happened in England...Martin Milner wrote:....We all sat round tables and tried not to look too excited.
Slowair, I don't know about wandering backstage. But they come out during intermission and especially after to give autographs and chat a bit. Also, you have a fair chance of catching members of the band smoking by the rear entrance.

Luanasa in concert
Smoking???
Well, I guess being brilliant musicians doesn't make you smart.

They're not smoking cigarettes, it's just their fingers smoking from playing fast and furious.slowair wrote:Smoking???

When we got to the arts centre, they had decided to put tables in the audience area instead, and we sat near - but not at - the front instead.
It didn't spoil anything.
Especially as in the break, I got to talk to Donogh selling CD's and his book, and Cillian at the bar Not that they'd remember!
Brilliant. Brilliant. Brilliant.
Go see them.

Seven Nations is at least as much a rock band as it is a Celtic band, so the crowd tends to act more like they're at a rock concert. Folks at a more trad concert will generally be a bit better behaved. Enjoy the show!slowair wrote:I went to a Seven Nations concert last year and left because not only couldn't I see the band, the crowd was so noisy it ruined the music.

Bloomie is quite correct, (as usual). The Hartford venue only seats a couple of hundred folks and there are no bad seats. If you go to the Hartford concert, you will enjoy it.
I saw Lunasa there last year, and there was nobody standing at the front, blocking the view. Sadly, there was no mosh pit, either
All the Best, Tom
