http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 2519625009 I'm not joking. :D I couldn't believe it when I saw it, I thought silver and black would be the cheap one that is in our music shop but a Pagan Whistle. I've seen it all now. Tempted to e-mail the buyer and ask them if it plays and hang on a minute. It looks as if the seller is handling it with latex gloves. Magic. I wonder if it would play the stupid crans I can't seem to learn all on its own for me?

Pagan Whistle.

Maybe not latex gloves might just be a poor picture but an odd looking beastie.

It looks like a cheap and nasty bamboo whistle of Indian or Pakistani origin. I'd save my money.

I agree - it looks like one of those thin Eastern European souvenir whistles (Russia or Ukraine or somewhere like that) gussied up with a bit of aluminum wire. There seems to be a lot of sucker items sold to the new age crowd - i.e. the 'pagan' label.

I believe P.T.Barnum's adage is appropriate here.

Invokes the spirit of air.... Indeed. Presumable that is why it was "consecrated" with arromatic hydrocarbons and otherwise "paint spirits".

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

If you take a look at the uniformity of the fingerholes and their spacing and then compare the photo w/ any in-tune whistle, this should give you a sense of the worth (not) of this whistle. Evidently there are Neopagans who care not a whit for music but foist cosmetically tweaked toys on the rest of their "fellow" flock in order to invoke the element of gold.

FWIW, I was also under the impression that a good pagan does one's own tweaking. Pagans? Any comment?

Sorry, I'm grouchy today.

Best,
N

Too bad. I'm Pagan myself but at least know a good (or not) whistle when I see it!
"Ideal for invoking the element of air..." either that, or you could just breath in and out. :P
And yes, I tweak my own whistles, thank you very much. Maybe not very well, but at least on my own!
It's twerps like that eBay seller who give paganism its bad "hippie new agey" name. Honestly. Harrumph I say.

Blessed Be.. to even stupididty
for even though they cause us grief
eventually they will give us relief
for at some point their intelligence
however lacking will remain vigilent
in finding ways to redeem their cause
of twisting and breaking blessed laws
by sooner or later playing the fool
finally removing themselves from the gene pool! :D

a not so well modified excerpt from a marvelous poem created recently.

Blessed Be
"Remember... No matter where you go... there you are..."
