Gallagher

Are the sets the Gallagher currently makes in D, exactly as they look on the pictures page of his website?

Yup, what is posted on his website are pipes that are made to the future owner’s specifications. If you choose to purchase a set, you can choose how you want them to look like, what materials you want them out of…following Seth’s list of options.

Seth’s pipes are of tremendous quality and craftsmanship, if you go this route, you will be highly impressed.

He also makes flat sets that look - well pretty much the same too. But from what I understand, he can be pretty accomodating if you have a special request.

Seth use to make his D chanters straight up. Now it appears that he is making his D chanters the same as he has been making his flat set chanters with a bell or bulbus turned shape above the C hole. It looks very nice and makes Seth’s chanters very distinguishable from other makers. I have a fully stainless set in D made by Seth, but that is probably about the only option that isn’t offered by him now. Seth has a terrific web site that you should browse fully.

I think that picture on Seth’s website - the full picture of the pipes where he links “hear a snippet of Jerry O’Sullivan on these pipes”… I think that’s a flat set.

My Gallagher concert pitch set has a U bend in the bass drone.

After I saw Brian’s set, I immediately ordered a set from Mr. Gallagher, and I’m very happy with the set. I picked them up at North Hero this summer. Except for obvious variances in wood grain and natural materials, they look just like the picture at the top of this link:

I own a full Set in D (now covered w. autographs, which is MUCH harder to get than the Stainless set:-), a full set in B, a C chanter, and a 6 soon to be 8 key flute from himself.

Obviously, I fully believe in Seth’s gear. He is amongst the best makers I feel. I buisness eithics are stellar. I’ve called him over 10,000 times (D’arcy will confirm that) and have reached him 99.9% of the time and received support that was always helpful. When he couldn’t deal with it over the phone, there was always the invite to send it to him and it would be back here w/in the week (if I opted for FedEx $$$!).

Gay McKeon is now playing a Gall. C chanter. Recently, I met up with Eamonn Dillon, and he will be posting a clip on Seth’s site playing the C chanter.

anyways…enough said.

It’s a Gallagher set that sits atop the banner for the Salt Lake Piping Club website pages as well - a half set owned by one of our number. We’ve also got members with a 3/4 set in C and a full set in D. Seth’s as good a maker and superb businessman as they come.
