Blogging Fluters?

I’m sorry for bothering and/or offending. It was never my intention. I wish you all the best.
Cheers,
Eden

And I am sorry for criticising and making fun of your blogging venture.
I do like to encourage discussion here, and hope you may be part of it.

Thanks for the apology hans, that was very kind

Flute on,

Eden

I think if Eden’s blog were a forum where people could reply and discuss then I would agree with Hans that he would be sending people away from C&F. But it isn’t, so I don’t see a problem with with someone dropping in and and posting a link to say that they’ve updated their blog. To me it’s no different than one posting a link to a YouTube clip of oneself playing a tune. You’re just sharing something about yourself that’s pertinent to the world of Irish fluting. That’s my tuppence anyway.

Cheers,

Kirk

Ah, I see from today’s Sunday Times that I actually AM up with the modern world. According to them, blogs are so-o-o last year.

Quit being a bloody geezer. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s in the genes. :smiling_imp:

Mine as well.

I am offended that you you think it necessary to apologise for an interesting blog about your personal status quo with flute and ITM at this point in time.

It bothers me that people who have no taste for material well expressed bother to come here to put it down.

That is not to say that topics should be mollycoddled. I am all for robust challenging and interaction about issues but in my opinion sour gripes and parodies of old timey bitterness are not within the ambit of robust challenging and interaction.

If blogging about music is “deemed” old fashioned I would say the music instrument exams are even more so …

I don’t care whether it’s old-fashioned or not to blog. I just think it’s self-centred, narcissistic and irrlevant. But that’s just my personal view.

However, since you’ve bothered to make your post nothing but a personal attack on me and my efforts and values, talasiga, I can safely ignore it.

1st) ya say that like theres something wrong with it :stuck_out_tongue:
2nd) ya spell like a Brit

Yep. Trrible spelling. We never could spell, us Brits. (Oh, sorry, that should be Brit’s, of course.)

Hey yinz should come and visit Pittsburgh n’at. We got our own language dahn here.

Kirk

And very very open embouchures.

Yarp!

Narcissistic? Nah.

To me, it’s understandable that someone might want to have a blog to document their progress.

Learning flute requires a lot of commitment. I’ve been trying hard to become a good player, and they’re probably going to have me committed soon.

it would give you more time to practice

If you want to play ITM on a Boehm, and write about it, go for it.
My only reservation about what you’ve written is that it isn’t clear that
you have had much experience with wooden flutes. Am I right that
there was just one in your history, one you didn’t much like?
If so I wonder if you are making decisions and drawing conclusions
a little prematurely…

In any case, have fun…

Yes, Jim, I have no doubt you are right. I’ve been messing with my wooden flute a bit lately and I think I’m starting to get the hang of it more and I’m enjoying it. Not sure what I’ll do with the blog. If I have the time I may turn it into, as crookedtune said, a way to document my progress. Ideally I would like to figure out how to post sound clips and videos. I doubt anyone would want to read it but at least I would have it, and it might keep me on track.
Cheers!
