Re: Left wrist
Boehm flute keys are about an inch apart, keyless are considerably more, & not evenly spaced, if you don't use the 'pipers grip', I suggest looking in to adopting a version of it to help keep the wrist straighter.

Re: Removing excessive wind noise from recordings?
I would agree, it is most likely down to mic placement, I'm no professional, but I put mine slightly off to one side, about 18" away, seems to work for me.

Re: Why F#?
A whistle in the key of D has 2 sharps, F# & C#, this comes about because of how scales in each key are made, they are a combination of whole tones & half tones. Tones = W - W - H - W - W - W - H Notes of key of C = C - D - E - F - G - A - B - C Notes of key of D = D - E - F# - G - A - B - C...

Re: Looking for a 6 hole D Fife/piccolo In canada
.....don't buy one if you want to play the other.
Learning to play a transverse is difficult, & is probably a bit easier on flute than piccolo, but they are both nice instruments.

Re: Tin whistle duets
I've never played ITM on my whistles or keyless flutes. :D Tin whistles used to be quite a common instrument back in the day, & keyless flutes are Folk Flutes, so have again been played on almost every other genre than ITM - it's just that this forum focuses on ITM in the main, personally not my...

Re: Embouchure suggestions on fife / piccolo
Getting used to a cross blown instrument does indeed take time, you have to develop your lip muscles, & everyone is different. There won't be too much difference between a piccolo/fife & a low flute regarding embouchure, but it will need a slight adjustment when you switch. Keep up the good ...

Re: ISO plastic (PVC, polymer, etc) alto/mezzo G whistle
I have an ABS low G whistle made by Tony Dixon, (but only available pre used, as he doesn't make them any more).
I think it's a very good whistle.

Use a different password on every account, none will ever be absolutely secure, as there are several programs available to crack them; but for anything important, use as many safety features as possible.

Re: Advice on a Low F whistle?
The Shearwater is a good low 'F', not too loud, has a nice tone, & is an easy player.
I also have an MK, a very good low 'F', but maybe a little too expensive, (I bought mine pre used).

Re: low g search
I don't own a Kilarny, but do have 2 nice low 'G' whistles, an ABS & a Trad Brass, both by Tony Dixon - also 2 low 'F' whistles, Shearwater & MK, both aluminium.
None are overly loud, but all have good tone.

Re: Brass body or Nickel ?
Nickel, brass, plastic, or aluminium, most of the tone is produced by the mouthpiece, whilst the bit with holes in (the body) has next to no effect on overall sound produced. Yes, plastic & aluminium do tend to give a mellower tone, but they are usually thicker body walls, whilst brass & nic...

Re: Smallest Playable Whistle
My Generation high F & high G work fine, in fact I quite like to noodle around on them, high Eb is OK, as is their high D, but I much prefer their high C or Bb for normal playing.

I've seen whistles played in Folk groups, & they are even played in Metal bands, so why not.

Re: Need Advice on which Low D to buy
Don't discount the Tony Dixon ABS low 'D', easy player, nice tone.
Howard low 'D', good, nice tone fairly easy player.
Chieftain low 'D', good tone, fairly easy player.
I have in low 'F' both Shearwater aluminium & MK Kelpie, both fairly easy players, (the Shearwater isn't loud).
