That worked for me. Looking back I can see how that approach also simultaneously helped to make the basics of good p...

Re: Question re initial flute/fife learning.

Yeah, just go full bore... The G note is probably easiest (XXX 000), and then G A B or G F# D. Not to say it is easy. Pretty rough for the first month or so; just keep at it. Eventually your embouchure comes in and the full two octaves are accessible. Your tone continues to improve of the next coup...

Question re initial flute/fife learning.

So, with your common 3-piece concert/band flute you have the head joint, the body and the foot joint. And when they teach you to play it, in order to get the initial embouchure and sound, they have you just working with the head joint. But obviously if you have a 1 piece full-size folk flute or some...

Well, so much for consolidation.
I guess I'll find out soon enough. My own Potter is supposed to be here tomorrow.
Thanks to the one person that answered up to this point.

PVC: Tipple flute vs. Mark Foster flute?

This is probably a very niche question and I'm not going to be surprised if I don't get a lot of responses but... does anybody have any experience with both the Doug Tipple and the Mark Foster ( of My Whistle and Flute) PVC flutes and how they compare to each other? Failing that in particular, Does ...

Timothy Potter whistles?

So, those of you that have experience with them pretty much like the whistles by Timothy Potter?
What makes them good whistles as far as you're concerned?

Re: At what point did the Dixon Trad head design change?

Last week I received two sample heads from Tony Dixon to compare vs. the two Trad D whistles I own. I have done some tests, summarized my observations, and emailed them to Tony for any comment he might wish to make. I will post here the results after I get his comments. It is great he takes a perso...

Anyone have a Becket Low D?

If you have a Becker low D whistle I'd like to hear from your regarding your opinions about it. And although it may make little difference, please note if you have one of the later /current designs with the Delrin fipple as opposed to wood. Thank You. I currently have his high D & Eb and alto G....

Received Becker Alto G

Well what can I say? I like it well enough. Has a nice mellow tune, slightly arie, but it plays well in both octaves with an easy transition.

Re: Opinions on the O'Briain and the Freeman Blackbird?

I wasn't happy doing this this morning but there you go, we'll dip it in the sharktank : one tune given the once over on Potter, O'Briain and Blackbird. With the caveat outlined on the previous thread: the Blackbird is a pre-production model that has been modified and given a body transplant, if yo...
