Re: new Steph Geremia CD - May 2018

Yep, I was fortunate to have a few tunes with Steph at the weekend and the launch is on next Sunday in Ennis at, I think 5pm, in the Sanctuary (next to Cruise’s). Beautiful playing and great choice of tune settings.

Edit: you beat me to it Peter!

Re: Grinter flute for sale

The tone will depend a lot more on the person playing it than the flute. There are lots and lots of trad players playing Grinter flutes in their own ways (from Kevin Crawford to Aoife Granville). For what it’s worth I find mine to be slightly more solid, with slightly fewer harmonics, than my other ...

Re: Tony Millyard Flutes?

I also have one of Tony’s keyless F flutes. It’s my go to flute for learning tunes at home. I tried a few when he had a festival stall a few years (I think he was more focused on . They felt a little bit varied but the one I chose plays really nicely for me.

Re: Apron/Popping Strap Traditional Material?

yep, you're over thinking this one but O'Farrell says... ...the chanter must there rest on the knee, and for that purpose it would be requisite to provide a small piece of white leather to place on the knee, under the chanter as nothing else will stop the wind so well. 'White leather' refers to alde...

Just on the offchance, bump... :poke:

When I searched back on the forums I found these. They’d have been just the job. I wonder if they ever found a new home.

Re: Windward flute orders?

Thanks, I don’t think he’s had any difficulty getting in contact by various methods over a period of years but he doesn’t always find communication easy so, if there aren’t any known reasons for delays, I might try asking on his behalf ;-).

I’m sure there’s a logical explanation, he’s probably being too polite ;-)

Windward flute orders?

Hi, does anyone have recent experience of orders or communication from Windward (Forbes and Yola)? Asking for a friend, other methods have been exhausted it seems. Not sure what’s going on or if there are explanatory circumstances. Feel free to message me :-?

Any spare regs?

Hi, long shot here but I wonder if anyone has surplus tenor or baritone regs they might like to sell or lend while I'm on a waiting list for mine. I found an old Ginsberg stock that is drilled for two regs, and the drones work well with the narrow D chanter. I'd have to check the hole diameters but ...

Re: Peter O'Loughlin - RIP

Indeed, he'd almost make music of anything he put his hand on, and such taste, timing and tuning in his playing. Blas. I guess he would be the last of that generation of the Tulla band too? RIP.
