Surely I can't be the only one who finds this thread's turn tedious. Makes me not even want to read it in hopes of useful stuff.

Re: Any music-related app recommendations?
I hesitate to say this, but I've only got a tuner app. I don't have perfect pitch, but I do have strong relative pitch, so when I'm on my own I rely on the app to get the starter pitch I want (usually D), and from there I tune by ear (strings), occasionally checking in with the tuner app to see what...

Re: Did I miss anything?
Oh, the usual. You know, struck by a car in a grocery store parking lot a couple months ago, knocked 20 feet through the air, landed flat on my back, TBI, skull broken in two places. Other than that, couldn't be better. Good grief. Hope you're well on the mend! I just found out the fully keyed C fo...

Re: Norman Rockwell The Love Song, 1926
Bob, what would you consider to be characteristic of Hall & Son flutes? I've never had any experience of them - that I know of - and a quick look-see shows some pretty differing flutes on first glance. I have no way of knowing whether Google Images was serving up the real deal.

Covid seems to have done a number on a lot of people. I'd characterize the aftermath as lingering shellshock.
Good to see you back.

It is, isn't it. Gives the music a reason to live, you could say. Good job, there, BTW. Keep at it.lukeman3000 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2023 1:39 amIt was really great for me because it was actually the first time I got to play with another person, and it was a lot of fun!

Re: Symptoms of Blackwood allergy?
... for anyone (like me) who is tired of the expression "It is what it is," imagine it with contractions to take the edge off: "It's what it's." I've heard a couple of others say they're tired of it too. I know one fellow who uses the phrase when it fits (as do I, but not overmu...

Re: Symptoms of Blackwood allergy?
And not to be a pedant, but while it's popular practice to call it Blackwood allergy, it's actually not an allergy at all: it's contact dermatitis, which is a sensitization matter. No, it’s an allergy: The reaction is caused by a compound in the wood, an allergen, thus the resulting contact dermati...

Re: Columbo
Looks like it should be in my area, but I haven't noticed it. Then again, it doesn't look to be at all likely in urban locations, and I haven't tramped the woods in a long while. Those flowering and fruiting heads are pretty distinctive. And I'm always ready to try an edible berry, especially the st...
