FS: Olwell bamboo D flute

Olwell bamboo D flute in excellent condition. Bought from Irish Flute Store about 4 years ago. Fantastic player described by Blayne when I bought it as performing on a par with top end flutes. PM or email for photos. US$475.

Re: Grunting

Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull made grunting a very distinctive and successful feature of his flute playing. Dare to be different! You too can have a locomotive breath.

Pakistan reeds

Anybody on this forum bought these reeds? This seller on ebay is from Pakistan and seems to sell only reeds. Has 100% positive feedback with many complimentary comments on their quality. I know red flags go up as soon as you mention the word 'Pakistan' but maybe its possible someone has learnt the a...

Re: Reviews?

I have a Howard with the newer head. Tuning is excellent and it is very air efficient. Fairly big holes but I like that. It has a really unique tone. Somewhat reedy, but then you might expect that from a pipe-maker. All-in-all I reckon its an excellent whistle and worth trying if you are looking for...

Re: Alba Whistles

I got a low B made by Stacey and very pleased with it. She makes a good whistle for a reasonable price. Much along the lines of MK whistles.

kavals - Radoslav Paskalev

A few years ago I bought on recommendation a blackwood D kaval by Radoslav Paskalev. He makes highly regarded Bulgarian kavals and lives in the USA. Its been a brilliant instrument and I contacted him recently about getting a B kaval from him. He advised he is no longer making kavals (more the pity)...

Re: Clancy - Fasten the Leg in Her

Can anyone explain what the title of this tune refers to? It immediately conjours an image in my mind but I'm sure it couldn't be that.

Re: Experience with Jonathan Swayne whistle ??

I have a recent John Swayne low D made from gidgee wood. I believe its optimised for the first octave. I would agree with a previous post that described a reedy tone (hardly surprising as John is an acknowledged pipe-maker). I find it a bit gritty as well and you can really lean into the second octa...

WTB Jack Brennan's Uilleann Pipes, Whistle and Fiddle Tunes

Hi, I am trying to get a copy of Jack Brennan's Uilleann Pipes, Whistle and Fiddle Tunes book. I have volume 2 of this book and like a lot of the tunes so would like the first volume. I contacted Jack a while ago but he didn't have any left and its out of print. Any help appreciated.
