Jarlath Henderson recordings

Hi Chanterdan I was talking to Jarlath and he has a cd coming out next month - with Ross Ainslie. It is based on duets with UPs and border pipes. http://www.openhousefestival.com/2005/events/JARLATH_HENDERSON.asp This is the album launch gig. It was interesting to watch his technique for playing pip...

Jarlath's pipes

Hi upiper71 Jarlath was playing the Dave Williams set - the first time I have seen one in the wood and metal (well you can't call it flesh). Actually both Jarlath and Fred played it, Fred played a set of reels on it while Jarlath played low whistle. The set sounded lovely, it had a nice rich sound ...

Fred Morrison&Jarlath Henderson @ Piping Live Festival C

I'm just back from the festival club at Piping Live - best gig I've been to this year. Fraser Ffyfield then Allan MacDonald with Nigel Richards as accompanist, then Xose Manuel Bodino and his band, and to finish a scratch band based around Jarlath Henderson and Fred Morrison dueting on uilleann and ...

Tactical Nuke

Hi fiddleronvermouth A tactical nuke is just a smaller yield device that can be delivered relatively easily - a cruise missile with a nuclear warhead would come under this heading, as would a nuclear shell or even a suitcase device. Depleted uranium shells would not be classified as a nuclear weapo...

Talasiga as a musician

Hi Peter No I have no direct experience of Talasiga's playing. Then again that applies to your playing as well. Uillium says that you can play well and that is good enough for me. Given the amount of theory Talasiga throws around I am willing to concede an element of practical exprience as well. Tal...

Syn

Hi Azalin

I find myself in the funny position of disagreeing with you here. Talasiga is a experienced musician who is capable of recognising a good sounding well crafted instrument. The ITM sound comes from the player, not the instrument.

Me - Vulgar?? (too right)

Hi Cynth Sorry to disagree with you Cynth, but I have an overly healthy streak of vulgarity in my nature. Just ask the members of my local folk clubs!!! I have a partiality to the more bawdy folksongs (and enjoy making them even more bawdy). I especially like Burns's Merry Muses versions of his song...

Fuel Prices

Coming to Scotland

Lambchop said
Hmmm? Is that why you nip off to Scotland every now and again? For a session of daringly uninhibited kilting?

Australian Wine

Hi Weekenders

After the Australian table wine I would probably be in the gutter

If I could find where ausdag got his signiture emoticon I would put that in here as well - it would probably be what I'd be doing in the gutter after the wine hit.

Improper language

Personally whether you agree with it being applied to talasiga or not this type of language is not suitable for this type of forum.

Dale shoulds nuke this thread.
