Re: Youtube

Thank you, Chas!

This is like audio gold. Watching this episode now and will be going through the other episodes in the next few weeks.

Although I saw Pete Seeger live several times, I had no idea that he ever had a show.

Re: Best bang for your... Air?

Another possibility is a whistle from Mack Hoover ( http://praisewhistlers.org/mackhooverwhistles/MackHooverWhistles.html ). One of his signature Whitecap mouthpieces on a commercial body has to be one of the best buys available. My own takes very little air and is perfect for quiet practice in the ...

Nicely done. But I agree that the reverb need faster decay. Right now it's more like an echo.

Re: Reverb

Oops. Just realized that you might be referring to apps on a phone rather than a regular computer.

If so, I don't have any real experience editing on a phone. Maybe someone else can offer suggestions.

Re: Reverb

There are far too many programs to list. But one free, open source option is Audacity. (http://www.audacityteam.org/) You most likely will find the program useful for many other recording and editing tasks. I used Audacity for a number of years before moving on to commercial DAW programs and still u...

Re: Recording apps for iPhone/iPad/iPod

Apple released a Music Memos app one or two years ago that offers a few more features than Voice Memos. It's still a free app, so you might want to experiment with it.

The included tuner might be worth the download by itself.

Re: Thoughts on A Whistles...

You might want to consider a Reyburn whistle. Very pleased with the three keys I have and all are on the loud side compared to other brands I have played. While I don't have an A, I strongly suspect that his A whistle will follow the trend. Ronaldo Reyburn was very quick to respond to all my questio...

Re: Vintage Gen C tuning?

The permanent topic at the top of this forum called "Tweaks: The Thread" will have details on how to fill that void with wax or other materials. Many other tweaking tricks there too. I have personally had better luck using poster putty, but I doubt it makes much difference what material yo...

Re: My first whistle? (All around for travel)

I see there were some updates since I posted. One cool thing about whistles is that cost does not equate to quality. I have a number of more expensive whistles, but often grab a Freeman or Feadog for the pack. Given your recent remarks, you might want to consider a Bb or A whistle that will not carr...

Re: My first whistle? (All around for travel)

I often hike or backpack with a small whistle. A larger whistle is more difficult, but you can minimize risk with good packaging. I use a synthetic fleece bag inside PVC plumbing pipe with PVC end caps. The bottom cap is glued or hammered on permanently and has a tightly fitted closed cell foam pad ...

Very nice looking. I was able to buy one of your low D whistles in the United States and have been very pleased. Will you eventually have the new whistles available from here in the U.S.?

Re: Susato Design Change?

I have 2 S bore D Susatos and a side by side comparison shows a number of changes. The head on the older one is more tapered and the mouth piece more rounded. The O-ring area on the newer has additional rings which I think are intended to indicate how much of the tube is extended. E hole is a bit lo...

Mack Hoover Whitecap on a Generation tube. Fun to play and I have found it very easy to record.

Re: Basic recording set-up for straight-to-Mac podcasting

To podcast four people sitting around a table talking you would only really need one decent omni conference mic or maybe two. You are right, of course. Many fine recordings have been done that way. But you might miss the ability to edit each voice and emphasize what you want your listener to hear. ...
