Re: Extra Notes on Baritone Regulator
I believe that set was made by the late great Victor Mullally. It seems that it’s worth thinking about what you can gain by putting extra notes in different spots. An E at the far end of a tenor reg wouldn’t really get you any new chord possibilities, just that one note. When it’s on the Bari reg yo...

Re: Extra Notes on Baritone Regulator
If you look closely at his set with the Taylor folded bass reg. you can see the key just up from the pivot block of the standard D key on the baritone - that would have to be the additional 'E'. So yeh, kind of squeezed in there, and one imagines that using it would require a pretty deft hand (he is...

Re: Extra Notes on Baritone Regulator
That’s what I was wondering. (The other option does seem to be more possible, though.)

Re: Extra Notes on Baritone Regulator
Specifically the baritone? As opposed to lengthening the tenor to get an E on?

Extra Notes on Baritone Regulator
I've heard stories, e.g., regarding Padraig McGovern's set, etc. that an E note can be added to a baritone regulator. Does anyone know if this is true? Also, is it possible to add B and C notes to a baritone regulator?

Re: Old flat set in South Dublin auction
Good guess: assuming a standard “125” size apple at 2.75”, the chanter is 5.90 apples long; baritone regulator is 5.55 apples long.
And just for the record, no it definitely wasn’t me who bought them

Re: Old flat set in South Dublin auction
... I really hope this set doesn’t disappear from view entirely, as I think there may be much to learn from a careful measurement of the chanter and regulator bores, if they haven’t been meddled with. And Rory is right, that should really have been a banana

Re: Ebay Items
Not pipes for sale, but an interesting vintage photo, which looks to me like a child holding a Regulator. It has a curved pipe, which I've seen on some old sets, to feed air to an unusually-placed reg. https://www.ebay.com/itm/little-boy-wearing-Scotland-kilt-holding-a-bagpipe-1-4-plate-ambrotype-photo-/295520576685?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276

Who is "Rusovius", who once refurbished Thomas Scott pipes ?
... Jörg Podworny, which was subject of several topics here. It bears the inscription SCOTUS FECIT RUSOVIUS REFECIT on the mainstock below the bass regulator bar. ("Scott made, Rusovius refurbished it") Who has any idea who was this man ? Rowsome latinised ? There will be a report in the ...

... ivory chanter top, and stop key. The ivory bass drone cap, bass drone puck and "ladder" with ivory plugs, look identical too, as do the regulator ferrules. The piper's right hand and fingers in both photos are the same too, also the way his left hand thumb peeks out from behind the back ...

Re: Lower regulator notes jumping the octove / squeaking

Agreed enough from the buffers. So before anyone else gets us sidetracked on a spur line... what news from the sleeper ( OP) ? Has he tried any of the suggestions ? Would he say he aprieciates the time taken to try and help or should we just not bother to respond in future to cries for help ? I'm s...

Re: Lower regulator notes jumping the octove / squeaking
The bass reed Allan made has a normal main staple that slipped over a short narrower tube which was hemped and inserted into the end of the regulator. This was intended as an easier way of adjusting the reed position because you had the ability to move it in or out on the narrower tube rather ...
