... Also he has been playing Boehm flute long enough to have a strong embouchure, so it was most helpful to hear him play the Cotter and the Olwell Pratten so I could compare them without them being under my ear. Just about equally lovely pratten-style flutes, different sound. It's better ...

Reflecting on Jim Stone, flutes and St. Louis...

... also plays remarkably well too, especially considering he has only been playing for five years or so. Of the flutes I tried, my favorites were the Olwell Pratten and the Eamon Cotter. The Olwell played so easily for me, silky smooth and reedy down low. The Cotter took me a little longer to find ...

When I received my Olwell Nicholson a few years ago, PO, or someone who works for him, must have used 40 stamps to mail it! They were a whole series of automobile stamps. I still have the box because it has special padding. I thought ...

... The last time I spoke to her about it she made some noises about wishing to switch over sometimes herself - although she was trying out a new Olwell at that second, so maybe it is not indicative of her general thought on the matter. Among the old boys, Michael Preston of the famous Sligo family ...

... of an explanation on my pricing and experience. The pricing part is mostly about whistles, but it also applies to some instruments here, like the Olwell bamboos. If anyone is interested in reading it, here's a link to the thread (I've posted this kind of stuff on pages 1 and 2 of the thread: http://chiffboard.mati.ca/viewtopic.php?t=59101

FS - Arie De Keyser Flute

Dear C&F I have a De Keyser flute that I don't use much and I could do with some money to put towards my Olwell purchase. I bought it in 2001. It is a nice flute, plays well, nice tone, good intonation. Looks like cocobolo, and is a big-bodied Pratten style job. Only downside ...

Thanks for the sales! Plenty is still available, including the Olwell bamboos.

Olwell Headjoint on a Lehart?

I know that the Olwell HJ will fit on most Murray bodies with a little teflon tape. Does anyone happen to know from experience if standard Olwell headjoints happen to fit onto Lehart flutes?

TIA,

Loren

... results: flutes @ $35,875 + whistles @ $9,430 = $45,305. That would more than pay off my mortgage. Jessie, I see that you are selling your Burns, Olwell, Copeland, Powell, etc. whistles and flutes. It's good to know that you are not able to part with your Tipple flute. Kind of makes my day.

... Serenity Bamboo Walking Stick Flute w/ Compass: I traded a pendant for this at a crafts fair. I like the people who made it. It’s not on par with Olwell bamboos, but the tuning is fine and you can bring it on a walk in the woods without worrying about it too much. $30.
...

And I actually think I have a prettier flute than he does when I'm playing my boxwood flute. I do envy his skills, ...
