Reflecting on Jim Stone, flutes and St. Louis...
... also plays remarkably well too, especially considering he has only been playing for five years or so. Of the flutes I tried, my favorites were the Olwell Pratten and the Eamon Cotter. The Olwell played so easily for me, silky smooth and reedy down low. The Cotter took me a little longer to find ...

... The last time I spoke to her about it she made some noises about wishing to switch over sometimes herself - although she was trying out a new Olwell at that second, so maybe it is not indicative of her general thought on the matter. Among the old boys, Michael Preston of the famous Sligo family ...

FS - Arie De Keyser Flute
Dear C&F I have a De Keyser flute that I don't use much and I could do with some money to put towards my Olwell purchase. I bought it in 2001. It is a nice flute, plays well, nice tone, good intonation. Looks like cocobolo, and is a big-bodied Pratten style job. Only downside ...

Olwell Headjoint on a Lehart?
I know that the Olwell HJ will fit on most Murray bodies with a little teflon tape. Does anyone happen to know from experience if standard Olwell headjoints happen to fit onto Lehart flutes?
TIA,
Loren

... Serenity Bamboo Walking Stick Flute w/ Compass: I traded a pendant for this at a crafts fair. I like the people who made it. It’s not on par with Olwell bamboos, but the tuning is fine and you can bring it on a walk in the woods without worrying about it too much. $30.
...

Olwell Bamboo Flute Question
I have an Olwell A bamboo flute. The sound of the flute is very good and the first octave is very easy to play, I haven't get used to the 2nd octave yet. However, the color of the flute is not as dark as other Olwell flutes shown ...

... I did," you're missing the point. Maybe that's the difference between players and collectors. I don't envy my fellow session-mate who has an Olwell when I'm playing my Folk Flute. And I actually think I have a prettier flute than he does when I'm playing my boxwood flute. I do envy his skills, ...
