Paging Mr. Healy....nevermind

Anyone have info as to Skip Healy's whereabouts? No contact through voicemail and emails, and his last blog post was November of 2009. Hope he's ok! :)

Re: "mopping up" tricks needed!

Some might snicker at this but a friend of mine cut me a flag off of one of those "Sham-wows" Best thing I have EVER used for mopping flutes. I made a swab from some 'sham-wow' type stuff (available as a camp towel or car chamois at Walmart) and yes, it's great. The tricky thing is to hav...

"mopping up" tricks needed!

Hi all... I converted to a simple system wood flute a month ago from a silver keyed flute. I'm curious about the tricks you session players use to clear condensation as the instrument warms up. Due to the mass of these things, and low heat conductivity of wood, the warm up time is much longer than a...

Re: Looking for Praise and Worship songs

Oh, and if anyone's interested, here's something else with little to do with whistling: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CtjMpN9hhg A guy at my church who spent 20+ years as a missionary in Ethiopia teaching textiles, spins for a hobby. That yak fleece would have already been turned to yarn and he'd...

Re: Looking for Praise and Worship songs

church music uses any and every key, so you need more whistles. One of the handiest things I own is a 3 whistle Susato set. D, C, Bb. That covers most songs and my keyed flute covers the rest. Most of the old favorites and praise music are in G or D, thankfully. Interestingly.....it's the youth tha...

Re: Looking for Praise and Worship songs

I'm amazed by the responses this question received! I thought I was alone here. :D Ah, then ya haven't spent much time over on PWA , I'd have to guess. I thought the same, before my own enlightenment, and discovering a network of garden-level (that is, semi-underground) folks who like to whistle in...

Re: Looking for Praise and Worship songs

I've played in our church's morning service orchestra and the evening services praise & worship band for over a decade. We pay all copyright licenses so we can legally put the music up on Easyworship/Powerpoint for the congregation, and print it for the band/choir. You do NOT want to get tagged ...

Interesting design. How on earth do you keep that whistle from crawling up the tool bit without a steady rest, when machining that far from the chuck?? :D

I've been reading about Rob's flutes. How is the fit/finish on yours? A quick review maybe? :)

6 vs. 8 hole...what's the difference?

I searched the forum on this question and didn't find an answer. What's the difference between 6 and 8 hole keyless flutes? (yeah, I know, 2 holes :) ) Seriously, what's the purpose of the two extra holes?

Re: Couple of questions about the Blackbird

The powder coating, however, is hard as nails and extremely difficult to remove even with methyl chloride paint remover. So when I order another one (Mellowdog), I can specify an 'uncoated' tube? :) With the laquer removed, the brass under the sticker stays shiny, with a nice patina on the rest of ...

Re: Couple of questions about the Blackbird

Mine was really tight too. So was my Mellowdog. In fact, I thought it might be glued, so I wrote Jerry who confirmed it wasn't. I finally gripped it in a way that wouldn't dislodge the added plastic ramp and gave it a hard twist. They finally broke free and tune fine, after applying cork grease. No ...
