Re: Keyed delrin/polymer flute
I follow threads like this one with great interest, since I hope to be able to afford a keyed polymer flute eventually. Most of my flute playing takes place out of doors these days, so I find polymer/Delrin flutes a real blessing. ........ and they don't mind if I dribble a bit of my whisky in them ...

Re: Advise for buying a derlrin flute ?
I have been a long time Boehm flute player. Besides the wooden flutes I tried - I bought two Tipples; a polymer Dixon; and a polymer Seery before getting a Forbes - which is my constant companion. The Forbes allowed me to perform beyond what I could seemingly achieve on any of its predecessors - but...

You can be as critical and negative as you want, Jem, but it doesn't become you (not that you care). It's a forum. People get to express their opinions. Some of us try to induce a little levity or exaggerate to make a point. All are free to do so as are you. Hopefully nothing becomes a personal att...

Re: for the betterment of henke....
It's good to be Charles MacLean... I'm also a long time taster of single-malt whiskeys... although I pretty much settled on Glenlivet some years back. There's a small Waterford snifter that I use at home to enjoy its gentle honey-heather flavor. Sigh ... too early yet - best get my mind back on the ...

Re: Flute sitting service
Y'know... I keep my flute on one of those little stands right next to me most of the time.
Suddenly, I feel obsessively compelled to slide it more towards the corner of the room. Whoops!

Wow......................... ................................wow! He writes children's books that seem to have fair acclaim. I can only assume by looking at his flute that he designed them with children in mind... very wealthy children. :poke: I guess I'm really not that young anymore - lol....

Re: chiffandfipple.com hacked
Wow... hadn't noticed all this going on. I've not had any troubles on this site, nor anything turn up for awhile in my daily virus scans. Many times when something of this nature happens, it is the host's server that gets attacked/infected - allowing it to hit the clients' sites. Hard to say without...

Re: Recently ordered my first Irish flute...
I think it's easier to hit a low D on a Forbes than on a silver flute but I may have been victim of old pads on my flute. Ooooo... I think I'd have to go with the pads thing on this one - but the Forbes does have an easy D for a simple system flute! I know getting a Forbes was a giant step towards ...

Re: nervousness while playing
Finally, a lot of the times that you feel your nerves affecting your sound, only other fluters will notice ;) For the audience/listener, music is an experience. To attempt to further illuminate your statement, I experienced a phenomenon several times over the years that never failed to amuse and pe...

Re: Where to get a nice wooden case?
My Forbes sits on a stand beside me most of the time - but when I travel, I want protection. I bought a small aluminum poker chip case from here (cheap!): http://i41.tinypic.com/ekopsp.jpg http://www.flop2river.com/product_p/pns-pa-300case.htm Then I ripped out the innards and slipped in a couple of...
