Re: Bones?
my 2c I'm very unpatient so it took me ages to learn how to play the bones - now it's my favourite thing :D you have to be patient as the basic movement is quite complex - after you'll figure it out it seems simple. still, what the guy is showing on the website is just a one type of holding the bone...

Re: learning mandolin
I'd add to the inspiration list Sam Bush, Tim O'Brien, Butch Baldassari Sierra Hull, Ricky Skaggs, Ronnie McCoury & Andy Leftwitch and a father of the bluegrass mandolin Bill Monroe. these might be a little to intimidating but listening to those guys I always repeating myself to learn to fly, fi...

Re: learning mandolin
Mandolin Cafe rules! but what you might want to start with is a video with Mike Marshall published on youtubes by D'addario strings there he shows and explains how to hold mandolin, how to hold a hand on the neck and so on. you got to remember that it's not a guitar in fact it's closer to fiddle. be...

Re: Weekend in Dublin
I think I know the hotel, never been there, but I'm passing it everytime I'm on the aircoach going to the airport. pretty good location - even though it's north side - as you're within a walking distance to a city centre. you may book guinnes storehouse tour online - cheaper than at the spot. i'll y...

usually by looking at what the pros are playing or asking forums like this one :D and then making a decision what you want from the drum. I'd suggest going with one of those Rob Forkner www.metloef.com Diarmaid O'Kane - http://www.tradcentre.com/diarmaid/ Seamus O'Kane (Diarmaid's father) - http://w...

Re: Tenor banjo question, intonation and where to rest wrist
get an arm rest for the banjo
place the forearm on it
this will help you a little bit
if you really need to rest hand on a banjo you can try to put your pinkie
below the strings
with slight movements you should be able to pick all the strings.

Re: Need help for my bouzouki!
aren't the Musicalia bouzoukis made in Sicily? they may not be the top of the line instruments but guys over there will be able to adjust your CS or make you a new zouk according to your specifications. you could also try a Giacomel but that would cost you a little bit more :D http://www.corradogiac...
