I had a low A native flute in bloodwood. And the color is different than this whistle, much redder. The flash makes it redder than what it really is. And my friend has a flute made from Sissoo wood and it matches it exactly.

I sent a picture of the whistle to a wood company that sells mostly hardwoods and they said the wood is Sissoo. Sissoo is a type of rosewood. I'm sure Cocobolo makes for a nice whistle also. I also have the same whistle and it looks like it's made from Rosewood. And on the back it says M 671. And I always keep it together to protect the red yarn. It's a strong playing whistle especially in the second octave.

I think the box would be a good idea if you want to store your whistles in your home or if you're going traveling with one or two whistles. The piece on You Tube is called Highland Heather by Jan Seiden. And it starts at 3:25. I have the same double E flute but I'm sure it could be played on a low and high D whistle.
