Re: Do you miss the old days
I remember when Dale had a funny newsletter, new makers showed up like clock work, Copelands topped out at under $300, Sindts, Burkes, and others were maybe $60, waiting lists were shorter than a month, and JessieK and others wrote interesting reviews. These days there is almost nothing new and I w...

Re: Ornamentation
I agree. Didn't mean to imply that separating consecutive notes of the same pitch was the only purpose, and re-reading my post I can see that it sounded that way. Cuts and taps are also used to articulate individual notes in many other cases. I guess the "articulation" part was what helped...

Re: Ornamentation
Does anyone have any tips for how to get good at ornamentation or any resources/tutorials that you particularly recommend? Hi Amergin. I've always found Grey Larsen's approach to ornamentation very helpful. It's a more analytical approach than many. It really made sense to me and allowed me to get ...

Re: Anak Whistles anyone?
Hi all. I received my Blackwood head - aluminum body, high-D Anak whistle this week. The design is really interesting and unique. It's a nice looking whistle. The upper octave sounds great. However, the lowest few notes of the lower octave jump to the upper octave too easily for my tastes. I've gott...

FS or Trade: Anak High-D Whistle SOLD
As described here: http://anakwhistles.blogspot.com/ I have an Anak high-D whistle, Blackwood head - aluminum body, I'd like to sell or trade. It's in like-new condition and was only played briefly for less than an hour. I paid $210 + $35 shipping ($245 total) a couple of weeks ago. There's nothing ...

Re: Anak Whistles anyone?
Hi All. I just ordered a high D Anak (blackwood head, aluminum body). I was quoted a 10-day wait/shipping, so maybe they're more caught up on production currently. I'll post my thoughts once I get it. I've been playing the same whistle (Humphrey) for several years, and this will be my first new whis...

Non-Irish music that fits on the whistle?
Hi! I've been playing traditional Irish tunes on the whistle for years, but I've got a hankering to try something different. Anyone have recommendations for other specific tunes that fit on the whistle (it's range and diatonic limitations)? I don't mind half-holing to get an f-natural or g-sharp now...

Re: Tenor Ukulele SOLD - Tenor Guitar also for sale
THIS IS NOW SOLD. I can never figure out how to edit or delete the original post. If anyone knows the trick to that, let me know. :) ALSO: I do have another "ukulele" that's a large steel string baritone, that's really more of a tenor guitar. Currently tuned DGBE (Chicago Tuning) but would...
