I find it helps if you play in front of people who've never seen or heard a whistle. For example: I'm in a play that is a series of monologues about war. At the end I asked if I could play "Amazing Grace" on the whistle. I got permission. The first time I played it for the cast, I was shak...

Where I live trick-or-treating is never on Halloween, but the Sunday before. We have it from 3-5, so no after dark fun for the kiddies. I handed out candy and saw a whopping 8 kids. It was a little depressing, but I'll just eat the leftover chocolate to get over it.

Welcome! One of the wonderful things about the whistle is that a $5 whistle may be as good as a $300 one, it's all a matter of personal preference. I myself have never so much as held a high-end whistle. I have a Waltons C and D and a Clarke C. I personally prefer the Waltons, but I'm sure others wi...

I have to go with calling something "gay" or "retarded" as well as the whole "your mother is..." A typical converstation at school: "You're gay." "Yeah well, you're retarded" "Your mom's retarded." It drives me nuts. Have people lost all co...

It's all the same for me. As much as I love ITM, I probably wouldn't have even started on the whistle if it hadn't been for Sir James Galway's solo in Return of the King. That brings tears to my eyes every time.

I haven't read many detective stories in awhile. So I'm gonna have to go with Nancy Drew (the originals, I hate the new ones), and for TV, the guys on Law and Order (original, SVU, and CI).

Welcome. I hope you enjoy learning whistle. I'd recommend starting with slow airs rather than jigs or reels.

I know this is the complete opposite of what everyone else is saying, but I have the brass/nickel whistle you are looking at, though in a different finish. I don't notice anything wrong with it. I will warn you though: if it's the same as mine, it's from MidEast Imports. I don't know about all that ...

I can't answer all of your questions, but I can help you with some. When you play a whistle in a different key from D, finger it the exact same way and it will be automatically transpose to the key of the whistle you are playing. Now, if you want to transpose manually, it's a little bit different. S...
