Was - Buy My Used Ethics
Apologies to all: This is not about flute playing, but a healthy bit of the old pub conversation never hurt anyone, eh? We do not live in a black and white world or country. I don't think politicians are dishonest as a whole..they try and do what they think is best for their consitutents: Road spend...

Bach Project
Is this the material the Bach Sonatas for flute? I remembered playing them in my conservatory days and believe I still have the music laying around somewhere. As I recall, though, perhaps mistakenly after all these years, that the sonatas were written for recorder and harpsichord. Have you thought a...

Re: Lark in the Morning
To be fair to Lark, they are advertising Casey Burns and Geo Ormiston flutes as well. Don't know if they are in stock or they order them...and the prices seem somewhat high.
They have three over $3,000...without specifying the maker.

Ormiston 5 Key Not For Sale (kind of)
Not sold, I think I'm keeping it and looking instead for a keyless Pratten. Why? I compared it with a Copley 6 key and the sound/tone was pretty much the same, though the Copley had a bit more edge in the second octave...but not so much to make a higher cost investment worth it. As I compared the tw...

Ormiston For Sale On eBay
I have an Ormiston and had read enough curiousity that I though I should stick up for it. It is a wonderful flute: Has a beautiful sound with a sweet tone and plays very well in tune. Though it is a bit on the older side, it compares favoribly with a Copley 6 key I've been trying. Now, I do have the...

FS: Ormiston 5 Key
African Blackwood and silver, Rudall based design, easy to play. Has a very sweet tone. Why sell? Too many flutes, not enough time. Flute came back from repairman with new pads, new tenon corks and key corks. Comes with wooden case. Great playing little flute...asking price very low for an Irish key...

Silver vs Wood Flutes and Repetoire
Hi, I've played classical and jazz flute for over 30 years and began playing wood/Irish flute last year so this reflects my opinion thus far. Sound: As most Irish/folk flute playing is played in lower registers, I find that I have to spread my embouchure to fill the flute and get depth in the low no...

Has Anyone Ever tried the 5 Keyed Flute...?
Sold by Lark in the Morning for $400?
Is it another one of those Pakistani firewood imitations? Or, a true musical instrument? I know, yo9u get what you pay for, but there's also a sucker born every minute.
Thanks Anthony

Fifes and things
I also play the fife, in addition to the I Flute...it does indeed have closer spaced fingerings and is played in a transverse position, as the flute. I also find it an enjoyable instrument to play, though the pitch is quite high....and it is also an enharmonic instrument, i.e., played with a limit o...

Found a flute
First of all, thanks to all my new friends who replied to my post, sent me personal emails and personal messages. I appreciate everyone's assistance. I've made my selection: A Cochran Rudall in blackwood, that I believe is already played. I expect to receive early part of next week. I probably shoul...

I WOuld Like to Purchase a Flute
Hello All, I'm interested in purchasing a keyless irish flute: I was thinking of the Sweetheart Resonance Blackwood...I have a Sweet blackwood fife I like a great deal. At the same price point is the Copley/Beogli keyless also in blackwood (a favorite wood of mine). Any comments or recommendations o...
