Nothing like the politics of a band. As another suggested, I would cut to the chase and uncover the truth. My expensive instruments are not loaned. If I drop my $9000 flamenco guitar, it is on my head. If a band mate is selling off instruments to pay the rent; AND borrows the guitar and drops it, ho...

The Copeland brass soprano D arrived today and I have just put it down after 3 hours. In a word: superb. The Overton should arrive Thursday. I will do a comparison of the two. In a way, I am hoping I don't like the Overton since the Copeland is a keeper and I will be hard pressed to afford them both...

Welcome! I am also new to the site. I have met many knowledgeable and friendly folk. What a great place.

BTW, I just got a Sweetone and was surprised what a nice and inexpensive whistle it is. Best.

for high-enders i personally do better with my Copeland, Burkes, etc... Colin Goldie will build to suit, as i understand it, but i got mine secondhand and i think i've got enough high D whistles for now. BTW Paul Busman makes a great whistle, somewhere between the low- and high-backpressure whistle...

Opinions: Overton Soprano D ?

I am interested in an Overton D (high). How do you find the wind requirement and the upper registry? Thank you.

Again, thanks all for your time. I have resolved the issue with the application of brute force. I wrapped the mouth piece with a strip of bicycle tire inner tube. I then grasped the wrapped mouth piece with a plier and carefully twisted off the stubborn little rascal. Whew ... no harm done. I remove...

Thanks for your replies. I will try the freeze then hot water and then the twist with latex gloves. That ought to get it done. Best, Cyril.

Frustrating Feadog Fipple Firmly Fixed

Yesterday, I picked up a new Feadog soprano D. The body appears to be brass and the fipple is a medium green colour with no hump in front of the windway. I have been trying to remove the fipple for tweaking and tuning but it will not come off. I am using the hot water technique. I have repeated the ...

Thank you for your reply. I don't know enough about whistles to opine if this is a "doable" project. I'm not surprised it doesn't work well; however, it would be nice if it did.

Elf Song Whistles GHB Chanter Whistle: any opinions?

Having a GHB background the GHB Chanter Whistle caught my attention. I would not view them as a substitute for a standard whistle; just wondering if they sound good and so on. Thank you.

I have been playing music for 40 years plus so I am quite aware of being considerate to other players. Of course, how would you know this. When I play flamenco guitar, I play acoustically, some soloing and some dance accompaniment. I don't recall doing "Purple Haze" through a Marshall stac...
