Wife has announced she wants a bodhran ...
Yes, it's true. She wants to accompany my whistle. So I guess I am veering off topic; however, any advise on a nice qualirty bodhran would be appreciated as well as any recordings that have whistle and bodhran where the bodhran is featured on several tracks.

From Song of the Sea site: Overton ...Made by Colin Goldie in Germany (licensed from Bernard Overton to make Overton whistles). I have an Overton soprano D signed by Colin. It is a great session whistle; loud and fast. I find mine easy to play with balanced registers and a slightly reedy sound that ...

Here are some initial thoughts on my new Copeland brass soprano D and Overton soparano D. Playing Characteristics These are quite different whistles. Both have a strong tone and are loud. The Copeland has a very refined bell like tone; sweet and musical; possibly angelic. First and second octave are...

I don't believe they are over priced. When you just hold one in your hand you realize that it is a fine instrument. Of course when you play one and then play another quality whistle that is priced more to your liking, you will probably see why the Copeland is not over priced. It would be a good thin...

You might check this link for further tweaking: http://www.chiffandfipple.com/tweak.html . Scroll down a ways where tweaking the blade is discussed. My Feadog was doing the same. I slightly blunted it with 600 grit sandpaper and the tone improved. Godd luck.

So, in the end I saved 20£.
I recieved my Alba Whistles today, a Low D and an Alto G. If that's not good enough, I saved 20 £s. Thank you Stacey! She paid the shipping. I haven't had the time to noodle around much with them but I have noodled enough to say they are solid, loud, and have the drain pipe thing going and they tune...

Mesquite Wood Flute alto G
I am trying to identify a flute. It was given to me 22 years ago. I played whistle then and now and the person who gave it to me assumed I played flute. So it pretty much is unplayed and just sitting there. It is a one piece flute made of well figured mesquite. Side embrochure with the following dim...

Re: Fie on Feadogs?
My newly bought Feadog has a pin in the mouthpiece. The folk in Dublin were contradictory in their advice - one email said it wasn't glued so go the hot water route, another said it should be in tune unless it was damaged in transit (it wasn't; it came in a plastic bubble wrap too). No one mentione...
