For some reason, which I cannot explain and is probably inexplicable, I have a totally irrational dislike of threaded joints and immediately replace the same with cork on any flute I obtain. Fortunately, as an ex-clarinet/saxophone player I have a large supply of suitable cork and can easily carry o...

I recently downloaded the first programme in the new series of the full set, however revisiting the site to watch the second programme I got a message saying that the programme can only be viewed in Eire; this message also now appears for the first programme, which I have already downloaded. I presu...

I'd noticed the Belfast location but Orla mentioned Euro's, so yes, a bit confused.

I have to agree with Jim and if you check out the makers sticky at the top of the forum you'll get links to many very highly regarded Irish and UK makers.

Whilst the current exchange rate is very good it's important to factor in the possibility of being charged import duty, this can easily negate any savings made by buying from the USA. I recently bought a small flute from a fellow board member and was caught by customs, they charged £18, this on a fl...

I'm almost certain that I've seen EVA pads before, for saxophones. and if my memory serves, definitely Chinese. One of the difficulties that foreign firms face in China is that to open a factory they must have a Chinese partner and are not allowed to own the actual bulding or the tools; these are ul...
