Re: When to take it to a sesh?
@ Jason I am a flute player since 1962, and it's true that my experience with simple system flutes only goes back a dozen or so years. So, I came to ITM with an extensive flute playing background, with the Baroque as a specialty, but it happens that many of the techniques of playing, between the Ba...

Re: When to take it to a sesh?
Now, if I've given any "bad" advise, or if I've said something misleading, then just say so. Extend the lower lip, but at the same time try "filling out" your upper lip with a small "pocket" of air, to compensate for the extended lower lip. Now, the first flute was sai...

I'm here because I especially like helping beginners. I think we are all aware of this, Cork .... because if the subject header mentions the word 'novice', 'newbie', 'help' etc. etc., you can be guaranteed that Cork will jump in with loadsa suggestions put in a usually authoritative tone that sugge...

Re: When to take it to a sesh?
As a suggestion, I find a warm-up to be invaluable, but a warm-up isn't about music, rather, it's more a matter of getting an instrument to do what you want it to do. A warm-up could be a fancy affair, covering all of the usual topics, tone, scales, articulation, etc., and could be followed by any ...

As a pair of friendly flori.
They had a great time, but never came back,
And that's the end of the story.

Things come, things go, and it appears that the PROCT forum is on vacation for awhile, maybe permanently.
The Interfaith Cafe, or IFC, appears to currently be open, but, one does need to be logged in, just to see it.

Re: sow it, grow it, eat it ........grow your own organic food
Ah, the joys of gardening in my area! A friend of mine bought a house and some land several years ago, and then decided to plant a garden. In his first year, everything he planted was eaten by wild animals. In his second year, he fenced in the garden, but even then most of his garden was eaten by wi...

My not having heard from you lately, I was wondering what could be going on.
No news being good news, however, I let the matter lie.
But, good to hear from you!

Basically, Henke is now competing for a job for which only about 5% of all applicants are accepted.dwest wrote:I'm really not sure why no whisky, could someone expound on this a bit?
His upcoming examination is an important part of that competition.
Good luck, Henke!

Good for you! You already know the "rules", and it's my guess that most of the other players will easily bear with you, especially the other flute players.

This is a sad moment, no whiskey for Henke.Henke wrote:...And no... no
whisky
However, Henke, whiskey has been made for hundreds of years, and will no doubt be available in the future.
Best of luck to you on your upcoming examination!

Re: Moving hole on flute?
Probably the trickiest part is in reaming/reforming the bore. So, because the original maker would have the correct reamer and any other necessary tools, and would already be familiar with your flute and how to work on it, it makes sense to first contact Mr. Bleazey and to discuss what you would lik...

Re: Some things just never go away....
...The balance of the wooden flute is quite different from that of a classical flute, and I find myself using my RH pinky a lot for stability--it is this that makes my hand cramp up (or at least get quite sore) after playing for a while. Is this an issue, or just something to get used to? Actually,...
