Re: Import Duties
If possible, ship the pipes through the USPS/Royal Mail. Courier companies like UPS, Purolator, DHL, etc. charge a huge amount of money to do the customs paperwork.

Re: Flute Moisture
Terry, Thanks for your explanation about how to get rid of "oil residue" that causes moisture beading in a fully lined flute head. Do you have suggestions about how to reduce beading (which causes sound distortion) in a half lined flute head? I thought that you were supposed to use bore oi...

Re: What Happened to Maurice Reviol?
I agree with Eilam: Maurice is a super person. Last fall, he added 3 keys to my Garry Somers delrin flute. At that time, he said he was shutting down his workshop to move it and didn't know when he would be able to resume work. Covid lockdowns in New Zealand also meant that he did some work from hom...

Re: Anthony Quigney new Album
I'd like to add my compliments with David's and Steve's on this recording by Anthony Quigney.
This is a beautifully played CD of tunes on flute with tasteful, unobtrusive accompaniment. Just lovely!

Re: Michelle Brophy Flutes
Hi from Ontario Canada, I have a 3 key Hammy style pratten on order from Michelle. It's due (fingers crossed) in October. Michelle is a delightful person with whom to deal. She is a strong player and the sound samples and pictures that she sent me sound and look like a Hammy pratten flute. I'll let ...

Re: FS: Garry Somers pratten model
Kevin, The USPS and Canada Post work seamlessly. I've bought and sold lots of flutes over the years and never had a problem. I would imagine Blayne at the Irish Flute Store would agree. He must receive and sell a lot of flutes internationally. Paul

Re: FS: Garry Somers pratten model
This is another feature of Garry's flutes. Most "pratten" style makers make the usual one piece "body" as standard. Somers makes a two piece body which allows for more flexibility and comfort in positioning the fingers of both hands. Of course, a comparison of bore diameter and h...

FS: Garry Somers pratten model SOLD
I have an "extra" Garry Somers pratten model delrin flute. It's a long story: my original Somers appeared to be lost in the mail so I bought a replacement from a fellow chiffer three months later. Of course, after 4 months, my original flute shows up...sigh... Garry's web site is down and ...
