I have found that tying to play the same tune on 2 different stringed instruments ( a guitar and a guitar tuned like a banjo!) gave me big trouble. But Ive found that playing the same tunes on guitar and flute made me better at both and once you really know the tune you can make very nice variations...

can i just ask about embouchure , should it be a regular hole in the middle of your mouth or can it be irregularly shaped off centre!?

hi , for the first time in months i played in front of a mirrior and was surprised to see how much of an angle i hold the flute at ( angle to the horizontal ). its well over 30 degrees , maybe nearly 45! hi folks , im a flute learner and after recording myself i realised my rhythm is all over the place , so I got myslef a digital metronome. I used the preset triple time and 4/4 time for jigs and reels obviously enough and then realised it helped me to play like a robot! what I do now is just use it ...
