Flute/Tin whistle lessons available via Skype
I guess I'll go ahead and throw my hat in the ring here as well. I've been at the trad music since about 1994, playing flute and tin whistle and lately have been keeping myself busy every week teaching lessons on Skype. If anyone is interested, I do offer two lessons at no charge so you can determin...

Very nice stuff there, Othannen. You got the old girl singing again. Someone should pick up this steal of a flute before I get any crazy ideas.

Lookin' good! I recognized that cocus Bb he was playing. Sven (aka Blackwood) had custody of that for a year or so and I enjoyed playing that bad boy every chance I got.

Re: Question Concerning Crans
I'm glad the procedure went off well and that you got some cookies. But I am entirely happy with what I played there, call it 'cran' or not. I leave that to wiser That you're entirely happy with distorted, half-baked techniques and incorrect nomenclature, and that you turn up your nose at the offers...

Re: Question Concerning Crans
Yes, it's the cran that Grey Larsen teaches in his book, I believe; anyhow he teaches it in lessons. It's an e cran (though played on a Bb flute) as described above, and it has just as many notes in it as, say, the cran Ben describes. Well, it may be exactly what Grey Larsen teaches, but you are no...

Grey. D Sound D, cut with middle finger, cut with index, cut with middle finger. E Sound E, cut with index, cut with left hand ring finger, cut with index. Has the advantage that it will work in second octave. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZ76F3Fq4TM Did you play your version of a cran in that vi...

Re: Question Concerning Crans
I've seen crans played in two ways, and have wondered what is preferred. Perhaps, "perferred" isn't the best way of stating it---what is the correct way, would be more to the point. 1st way I've seen: 1. Play the D; 2. Cut with the G finger (3rd from top); 3. Cut with the E finger (5th fr...

Re: Olwell D boxwood - keyless no slide on E-bay
I've heard from a few different sources that Patrick doesn't really care for people reselling his flutes at a steep markup. I believe I've also heard that when people do this, and he finds out about it (and he does), he will no longer do business with that individual. So kudos to you, Jim, for selli...

Re: 6 keyed Olwell Pratten for sale
Sorry guys, flute is off the market now.
Unfortunately, the tenons spontaneously disintegrated today. My best guess is that at some point they must have been thread wrapped. Ah, well, what can you do? It's ineluctable.
